We we paid extra for pick up from our hotel, which was well worth the extra as it was a 6.30am pickup. We were taken to the Paris City Vision bus depot which was a very well organised company. This day tour was a huge day trip, but well worth doing. The drive was enjoyable, with a stop along the way. Our French Lunch was included when we arrived, which was just lovely. We then caught the shuttle bus with our guide who took us up every step and hill there was, I’m sure! We were not young, but handled the hills and steps quite well. It was an amazing place to visit, with a feeling of being in a totally different world. We had a little free time at the end and had to meet our guide back at the first stop from the shuttle bus. We became a little lost on our own finding our way down from Mont Saint Michele, but made it out and finally caught the shuttle bus back to our bus! It was a long drive home, but a good rest. We had a stopover on the way home, which was welcomed! We were given a taxi voucher when we arrived back to the depot, and our taxi had been booked and waiting for us! This made it so easy to get back to our hotel after a very long day. This is a very memorable day trip, well worth doing. Just a beautiful place to visit!
Mont St. Michel is an abbey in Normandy , France. It is surrounded by sea water when the tide is up. Beautiful place. The tour was good. It was done in two languages, so it took twice as long. The guide was good, but she showed up late for the tour in Paris and we all had to stand outside the bus on a frigid morning for about 15 extra minutes. When checking in at the office one of the staff was really surly with a customer.
This tour is not worth for the time and the money spent. Start at 7am and 5 hours in the bus travelling to the destination. Once go there spent about few hours to explore the church and the village. Typically every old church we visited surrounded by traditional village ,but its for tourism I think. Restaurants and Tourist shops . Return way its another 5 hours in the bus , No any other attraction but can see beautiful country side.
Good lunch and English speaking guide ...
We began early in the morning, as it is about a 5 hour trip out to Normandy from Paris. The bus was comfortable and they did stop at the 2 hour mark so we could use a restroom. We made it to our restaurant by noon and had a delicious lunch! Be sure to indicate that you're vegetarian or vegan when you sign up for the tour. They were quite accommodating. After a wonderful lunch, we took a shuttle bus to the base of Mont Saint Michel. From there, you'd better be able to climb and walk up hundreds of steps! It was worth the climb, I can tell you! Our tour guide was very patient and allowed for breathing breaks between sections of stairs and hills. She was very well-informed and presented a thorough explanation of the history of the former monastery. We had about 30-40 minutes at the end to browse the gift shops, something that was quite plentiful on the descent of the hill. Don't stop for long, as the bus will leave promptly at the appointed time! Allow yourself enough time to take the shuttle back to the restaurant's parking lot so you can get back on the bus. We, again, stopped at the 2-2.5 hour mark for restrooms and a bite to eat heading back into Paris. We opted for the taxi ride back to our hotel, but the metro is convenient and if you can read, you can get yourself back to your hotel without any trouble. I highly recommend this tour! Thank you to Marion and Elisabeth for being such wonderful guides.
What a day!! So much fun driving thru the Normany countryside on the way to Mont St. Michel-- We had a very nice lunch at a restaurant with a scenic view of the site before taking a shuttle bus across the bridge and then headed up on foot. The long climb takes you to the top but there are breaks along the way to learn the history. The end of the walk back to the shuttles take you thru the cute cottages around the base where there are lots of shops and places to get snacks and drinks for the long drive back to Paris. It takes about 4.5 hours each way but the bus stops half way each way for bathroom and drink breaks at a nice large highway stop. Nice clean buses.
Rushed to be on time for departure only to find ourselves waiting for the bus. The bus's air conditioning system must have been on since we nearly froze. We mentioned how cold we were, but nothing was done and we were forced to buy coats at the first rest stop. The staff then turned on the heating system in the bus! We had wasted money on a now unnecessary expense.
