Travel independently to the paddle boarding base near Abu Dhabi’s Eastern Mangroves, and meet your instructor-guide.
Get one of the supplied paddle boards and lifejackets, and after a safety briefing, enjoy a practice run with your instructor showing you the basics. One of the UAE’s fastest growing water sports, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) developed when surfers in Hawaii began to use paddles to ride their boards. One reason for its popularity is that it's easy to learn: all you need is a board and a paddle.
When you’re ready, stand on your board and follow your guide onto the mangroves’ channels — calm waterways without tidal or fast-moving waters that are perfect for beginners.
Glide over the placid waters and soak up the surrounding nature as you follow a set route around the mangrove islands and shores. Take advantage of your full standing position to watch for fish and birdlife, and hear facts about the mangroves from your guide.
Around midway, stop at a safe spot to relax or take an optional swim. Then, after enjoying the peaceful scenery, paddle back to base.
After about an hour on the water, your experience ends when you leave the paddle board base.
