What You Can Expect

Guided Pearl History Cruise in Abu Dhabi

Sail on a traditional pearling boat

Prior to the tour's departure time at 10am, make your way to the Anantara Eastern Mangroves Hotel and Spa, located among Abu Dhabi's mangroves. There, you'll meet your guide and group, then step aboard the traditional Emirati pearling boat called a jalboot, a specialized type of dhow (a wooden Arabian sail boat). Make yourself comfortable on the floor cushions, where you'll be greeted with some fresh dates and Arabian coffee for a snack.

Listen to your guide's informative commentary on the Arabian Gulf's pearling history as you push out from shore. Search for sea birds or snap photos of the mighty mangroves as you sail through the serene channel running between the Al Hudayriat islands and Abu Dhabi. Watch an oyster-opening demonstration and search for a pearl of your own while listening to some Emirati seafaring songs.

Your tour ends back at your departure point.
