What a fantastic day we had! Our tour-guide, Prince, and driver, Alex, were very friendly and very knowledgeable. Best thing about the day was the flexibility. After seeing the WEB Museum and walking through the Makola market, Prince asked us if we wanted to continue with the car or get out and do some walking. We walked from the Lighthouse in Jamestown to the Memorial for Kwame Nkrumah, and visited another tourist market. Prince was careful to check with us before walking into tourist traps. We went to a small shop making traditional drums and practiced a bit with the locals, knowing that even if we didn't want to take anything home with us, a small tip was in order. All the way through he told us so many interesting things about Ghana, the culture and the people, and even personal stories about his own wedding. He told us to listen for shouts of Oburoni as we were in the markets, telling us that the merchants were trying to get our attention. All these small things made the tour into a personal experience we will always remember!
