Day 1: Adelaide – Eyre Peninsula (L, D)
Depart Adelaide early in the morning to catch the first ferry from Wallaroo. Cross the Spencer Gulf to the Eyre Peninsula on a 2-hour journey, while getting to know your group and enjoying the ferry lounge, cafe, and observation decks. Alternatively, take advantage of free Wi-Fi and snap enviable pics to post to social media.
Upon arrival in Lucky Bay on the Eyre Peninsula, drive to Port Lincoln where you stop for lunch. Afterwards, a 15-minute boat ride takes you to a deluxe pontoon for an exciting 3-hour snorkeling experience with bluefin tuna, salmon, snapper and mulloway. Get outfitted in the provided snorkel, wetsuit, gloves and fins, then jump in the water. Watch the wild bluefin tuna, one of the fastest fish in the world, zip around the water.
The pontoon features an enclosed pool, where you can swim with the tuna or feed them from the deck. If you prefer to stay dry, step into the underwater observatory room to see the fish. You can even handle different marine animals in the touch pond. After three hours on the tuna pontoon, enjoy informative commentary during a short cruise around Boston Bay as you head back to shore. Keep an eye out for dolphins!
Next, visit Mikkira Station, a historic homestead that features the only koalas on the Eyre peninsula. After meeting the adorable creatures, your group heads to your hostel for the evening.
