5-Day Adelaide and Kangaroo Island Tour Including Barossa Valley Wine Tasting

Barossa Valley

Immerse yourself in the coastal beauty of South Australia on this diverse 5-day tour highlighting wildlife, wine and local culture. The tour includes a balance of guided activities and leisure time to explore at your own pace.

Visit several Barossa Valley wineries to taste South Australia’s renowned wines, and browse shops and galleries in the old German community of Hahndorf. Have an Aussie animal adventure on Kangaroo Island, with visits to Parndana Wildlife Park, Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and Seal Bay Conservation Park. Sample unique local products at a eucalyptus distillery and a honey farm, and savor regional cuisine with several included meals.

Make your own flight arrangements into and out Adelaide Airport, and enjoy convenient round-trip airport transfers once you arrive. Spend three nights in Adelaide and one night on Kangaroo Island in your choice of standard or first-class accommodation.

Day 1: Adelaide
Be picked up by airport transfer and taken to your Adelaide hotel. Spend the rest of the day and evening in Adelaide at your leisure.

Hotel: Chifley on South Terrace (Standard), Stamford Plaza Adelaide (Superior), Adelaide, 2 nights.

Day 2: Adelaide -- Barossa Valley -- Adelaide (B)
After breakfast at your hotel, travel into the Barossa Valley to sample fine South Australian wines including TeAro Estate and Saltram wines. In the town of Lyndoch to Kellermeister, for some Cellar door tastings including their Wild Witch Shiraz, the ‘Retro’ selection and a crisp apple cider. Next stop is a visit to Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop*, an absolute must whilst visiting the Barossa. Maggie Beer - cook, writer and founder of 'Maggie Beer Products', offers tastings and sales of her full product range including limited edition seasonal produce. Enjoy a delicious 2 course Barossa style restaurant lunch and wine tastings at the Saltram Wine Estate. Leaving Saltram Wine Estate, head to the impressive Wolf Blass Visitor Centre to enjoy tastings of some of the award-winning wines and learn about Wolf Blass the man, the wines, the winery and the vineyards. Relax on the drive through the Adelaide Hills back to your Adelaide hotel, where you have the remainder of the afternoon and evening to spend at your leisure.

Day 3: Adelaide -- Kangaroo Island (L)
This morning enjoy a scenic coach drive to Cape Jervis to board the ferry to Kangaroo Island. Visit Clifford’s Honey Farm and taste the sweet produce, then take a walk among Australia’s most accessible colony of sea lions at the Seal Bay Conservation Park. Admire the bird life at the Birds of Prey free-flight show, and watch the daily pelican feeding session at Kingscote before being taken to your hotel, where you have free time to spend at your leisure.

Day 4: Kangaroo Island -- Flinders Chase National Park -- Adelaide (B, L)
After breakfast at your Kangaroo Island hotel, explore the island’s Flinders Chase National Park. First stop is a visit to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery to sample a range of eucalyptus products, followed by kangaroo feeding at Parndana Wildlife Park. See more wildlife at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, where nocturnal koalas, echidnas, bats and possums are revealed in their natural habitat. Admire the Remarkable Rocks and Admiral’s Arch on a scenic tour of Kangaroo Island’s rugged south coast and drop in to observe a colony of New Zealand fur seals. Return to Adelaide by ferry and coach, arriving at your hotel in the late evening.

Day 5: Adelaide (B)

After breakfast at your Adelaide hotel, be transferred to Adelaide Airport to connect with your onward flight.

Great tour, Stamford plaza is a great hotel. Kangaroo Island was a must, superb organization all the way around. Les our guide was lovely too! Amazing sights and sites, fantastic people. Ozone Hotel was nice too though the kitcen was awfully busy and service was long.
One note though, AAT, please leave the pick-up times at the hotels or send them through emails so we don't have to call, thank you!!!!!
