Once you have completed the first tour of your Adelaide Super Saver, you have six more days to complete the second.
Day 1: Adelaide city tour (3 hours)
Discover the highlights of Adelaide, the ‘festival city,’ on a sightseeing tour by coach that takes in the city’s mix of historical buildings and modern architecture. With a guide, visit the North Terrace, see statues and memorials, and take a walk through Rundle Mall. Visit Colonel Light’s Lookout, named for Adelaide’s founder and town planner, and then drive out to the coastal town of Glenelg and admire the beach. You’ll also satisfy your sweet tooth with tastings of dark and milk chocolate at Haigh’s Chocolates, served with a cup of coffee or tea.
City tour optional upgrades:
When booking, you have the option to upgrade your city tour to include a River Torrens cruise and admission to the Adelaide Zoo to see the beloved giant pandas.
River cruise: Board the Popeye, a ferry service that dates back to 1935, for a 40-minute cruise that provides views of city center landmarks from the water. Keep your eyes peeled for a variety of ducks and other birdlife, as well.
River cruise and Adelaide Zoo admission: If you select this option, disembark the riverboat near the zoo, and explore its variety of animals, from giraffes to flamingos, before viewing the main attraction, the zoo’s two giant pandas, Funi and Wang Wang. During your time in their state-of-the-art exhibit, learn about these pandas, the only ones in the southern hemisphere and the first to live in Australia permanently, as well as the pandas that live in the forests of China.
Day 2: Barossa Valley and Hahndorf Tour (8 hours)
Your second tour must be taken within seven days of the Adelaide city tour. You’ll depart the city for the Barossa Valley, one of Australia’s most renowned wine regions. Admire the verdant scenery of the Adelaide Hills, and enjoy morning tea in Lyndoch, the gateway to the Barossa Valley. Then visit two wineries for wine tastings, and enjoy lunch at Keaslers Winery Restaurant.
Next, head to the quaint town of Hahndorf, a historical German settlement. Walk around town to enjoy the Bavarian-style atmosphere, and perhaps relax over a cup of coffee and streusel (own expense) before your day trip ends with the drive back to Adelaide.
