Receive a morning pickup from Agra’s Cantonment Railway Station. You’ll spend the day aboard a private air-conditioned vehicle as you shuttled between sightseeing stops.
Make the first stop at the iconic UNESCO World Heritage-listed Taj Mahal, learning about its construction by the Mughal leader Shah Jahan as a mausoleum for his wife. Continue across the Yamuna River to yet another UNESCO site, the red sandstone Agra Fort. Learn about the fort’s history and construction, and discover details about the site’s blend of Central Asian and Hindu architecture. Then tour its intricate collection of mosques, courtyards and key structures like the Jahangir Palace and Khas Mahal.
Continue next to the Tomb of I'timād-ud-Daulah, often called the “baby Taj” for its striking resemblance to the iconic monument. You’ll pause midday for lunch at a local restaurant (own expense), before proceeding to your third UNESCO World Heritage site, the Fatehpur Sikri. Discover this perfectly preserved “ghost town” with your guide, stopping at key landmarks like the Buland Darwaza city entrance and the Tomb of Shaikh Salim Chisti.
If there’s time left over, finish the day with some souvenir shopping in Agra. You might bargain for some beautiful marble handicrafts, “Zari-style” embroidery, leatherwork, brass objects, jewelry, and carpets, plus much more. You’ll be transferred back to the train station in the evening, returning around 6pm.
Please note: the Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays
