Fantastic Tour, Scotty our bus driver was extremely informative and made the long drive seem a lot shorter by keeping us entertained with all of his knowledge! Christchurch is unbelievable, to see the state a lot of the buildings are still in to this day was amazing. Make sure to visit the International Antarctic Centre and experience riding in a hagglund, it is almost like being in a roller coaster!
I really enjoyed our day in the bus with Scotty. He was a very knowledgeable friendly guy who was full of information about the area and history of settlement. I barely recognised Christchurch from the last time we were there before the quakes so the tour was really interesting. The Antarctic Centre was great, if a little rushed to fit in lunch. A fun and informative trip back to Akaroa too. Thanks for a great day.
The international Antarctic Centre center was the highlight of this tour. Was an amazing experience. I enjoyed the 4D Extreme video.
This is a must see trip in the Christchurch area. Firstly Akaroa is a delightfully kept French town with beautiful old houses and lovely gardens. The trip over the mountains to Christchurch has stunning views and our driver gave us an in depth viewpoint of the effects of the earthquakes on the city and its people. The highlight of the day was the International Antarctic Centre where you really felt as if you were at the worlds most southerly continent. Great shore excursion!

The Antartica Center was really interesting. Very good experience.
I really enjoyed this shore excursion. Kudos to our driver, Scotty as he was the driver and the tour guide. Scotty was very informative and a great driver as we enjoy the ride along the Banks Peninsula especially on all those narrow winding road. Every twist and turn provided a very scenic view so it was very enjoyable. Our first stop was Christchurch. On this City Tour, we got to see a lot of City of Christchurch. We were shown the areas where the earthquake of 2011 did damage. There were a lot of new buildings coming up and not everything is finished even on todays date as it will take a while to rebuild after the quake. Next, it was off to the International Antarctic Centre. The first activity on the agenda was to ride the Hagglund. Not knowing what the Hagglund is, it provided us with a sense of curiosity. It was sure an adventure when we all stepped into the Hagglund. It was sure an adventure as the Hagglund was driven over many terrain and we as passengers had to hang onto the straps hanging overhead. We felt all the ups and downs as we all tried to stay seated in our seat. The second activity was the Snow and Ice Experience. This activity was very cold as we had to put on boots and a warm parka and then step into cold with the recreation of real storm with winds and a drop of temperature of -17 degrees Celsius. Just a reminder of the kind of temperature I get back at home in the cold winter. The 4-D show was a lot of fun. It was great opportunity to see all the penguins in the Penguin Encounter. There were a lot of cute penguins and I took many photos
Need more time, very informative. Penguin cute. Guide at the Center was great. The driver that picked us up from the port to drive us into Christchurch about an hour drive was wonderful telling about the area, and redevelopment after the earthquake. Got to walk around a bit.
Really interesting trip, made special by our excellent tour guide Scotty. He was very interesting and informative about New Zealand, and clearly very proud of the Christchurch rebuild. The tour itself was interesting, and varied in its content. The Antarctic centre was great for the kids, and also very interesting. Would recommend for families.
Very good and informative about the city. The Antarctica Center was a treat! So much better than what was offered by the cruise line, and at a much better price!
The scenery on the way to Christchurch is breathtaking and Scotty our guide was most informative and enthusiastic. Antarctic Centre was a unique interactive experience.
Awesome!! The International Antarctic Centre was so interesting. The Christchurch tour was really interesting. It is a shame that so much damage has been done by the earthquakes and the city is still rebuidling after so many years. Excellent tour and worth the money.
International Antarctic Center tour was superior. The movie, theHagglund ride and the Antarctic Storm Experience made the tour excellent. Traveling to the site was lovely and our tour guide was interesting and well informed. He made the trip through Chrisrchurch enjoyable..
Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and provided us a unique experience. Highly recommended.
Can't say enough about the International Antarctic Centre. DONT MISS. Hagglund Antarctic vehicle ride over rough terrain-outstanding. The 4D movie, blue penguins wonderful. We loved the Antarctic Storm simulation room was amazing. The cafeteria can not handle a large group. Wasted time that would have been better used exploring the centre. Naturalist knowledgeable and did her job well.
Christchurch museum beautiful, town Ride to and from Akaroa truly scenic countryside. Akaroa lovely time.
Tour guide BRUCE - EXCELLENT
The guide was wonderful and the Maori village was a great experience!
This tour was excellent and sobering to see Christchurch as it is slowly coming back new the easiest way for us to see the peninsula was informative. The International Antarctic provided insight to the lifestyle down there.
Very good experience, especially learning about the recent history of Christchurch. Highlight was the Antarctic Centre - well organized and extremely informative. Great interactive exhibits.
Akaroa is a beautiful, tranquil village with French connections and as soon as you arrive by tender, there's the wonderful Blue Pearl Centre ready to tempt you I bought reasonably priced abalone earings that have the most fantastic colour changes in different light. Our bus tour with expert guide took us through the gorgeous hilly terrain to the city of Christchuch, which still hasn't recovered completely from the 2011 earthquake - quite an eye-opener to still see huge expanses of cleared land and boarded up buildings- all those businesses and people - where have they all gone? The International Antarctic Centre was great! But beware: the Hagglund ride is a great experience, but definitely not for people with back problems! The 4D theatre was brilliant, the blizzard fun and the guide very informative. In all, a definite highlight of our tour of NZ and through Viator, much cheaper than the same tour offered by the cruise line.
Very interesting and well run trip. Good value, Antartic center was excellent! The drive from Akaroa to Christchurch was ver scenic.
Great tour ! Really saw a lot of the beautiful countryside on the way into Christchurch. Tour guide did a great job taking us to the various places in Christchurch and explaining areas in depth - with a wide knowledge and deep feeling for the area

6 of us did this trip and our driver was great. We also enjoyed the Antarctic exhibition . It was great to see Christchurch rebuilding but it still had beautiful flowers and plenty to offer. We were extremely sad to hear of the bush fires and the death of such a brave helicopter pilot. Would recommend this to any one visiting New Zealand. My apologies for forgetting driver's name have had a senior moment once again Marg from Brisbane
