Why Travelers Choose This Tour

This tour shares the history of the area's sex trade in a welcoming environment perfect for solo travelers wary about exploring on their own. At the Museum of Prostitution, check out the second-story red-light window, which garners glances from pedestrians outside.
Meet your guide in central Amsterdam for an evening walking tour of Amsterdam’s Red Light District, known as De Wallen in Dutch.

You’ll start with a visit to the Museum of Prostitution, where you can peek behind the scenes of the world’s oldest profession. See displays that include costumes and props used from past to present.

Strolling with your guide through a network of narrow streets, including Zeedijk — a once well-known spot for sailors seeking night amusements — you’ll learn that the shady bars and disreputable clientele are long gone from what was once a dangerous area.

You’ll pass through a welcoming destination filled with plenty of friendly pubs and restaurants, alongside strip clubs, sex shops, and coffee shops.

During the 2-hour tour, have a look at the exteriors of some 300 “kamers,” or cabins, where you might catch a glimpse behind glass windows illuminated with red lights.

Fantastic Tour Guide

Juan took us for our tour. He was extremely interesting to listen to and clearly knew a lot about the history of the Red Light District. Glad we had the chance to do it before they close the tours.

Horrible experience

The address given on the ticket (not the name of the location but the address itself) is wrong. I missed my tour because of this and am so frustrated. When I called the number on the ticket they referred me to the office. I walk to the office where the woman gives me an email address for customer service. Customer service sends me an aw-shucks-how-terrible-for-you email. This company is very unreliable and unhelpful

Disappointing

We found this to be the biggest letdown of the entire trip. The guide (Eddie) was extremely pleasant but it was frankly very boring.

Not worth it

They over booked our tour and instead of offering a refund right away, they tried to blame it on us for 20 minutes. After finally admitting it was their fault they got someone to accept a refund so we could get started. The guide was knowledgeable but there were no listening devices so she was difficult to hear. We didn’t really see that many prostitutes but it was early in the evening. Maybe they should start later.

This was a very fun and informative tour. Our tour guide, Chantal was very knowledgeable and energetic. She kept a great pace and made sure that we all stayed together. I was pleasantly surprised by her wealth of information. I would love to come back and visit again some time!

I was a little apprehensive before we went on this walk but the guide was informative, non judgemental and provided a great many interesting facts about the world's oldest profession. Worth the money

Worst Tour Ever

The tour guide, Begoña, had a poor command of English and spoke so quietly that we couldn’t hear a thing the whole time because the area is so noisy. Also, she made a few racist remarks that bothered me and my partner, such as: “you won’t find women from places like Sweden or Switzerland doing this kind of work. These sex workers come from places like Russia, Africa and South America”. How stupid is that comment? Let me break the news: prostitutes come from all over the world and it’s not cool to stereotype certain groups of people because of your narrow-minded views. She spoke so much about stigma, and there she was, making women from the “not so-good countries” sound inferior. Then she decided to continue with her ignorant remarks by saying that women who are trafficked for prostitution also come from poor countries. Human trafficking happens EVERYWHERE! It’s a worldwide issue. Please lady, make all of us a favor and go get another job.

I can't rate this... I found the red light district but the area is somewhat confusing and I was not able to find the place for the tour. It was past the start time so I abandoned my search. My advice, find where you need to go well in advance. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to do so.

Well organized and very informative. Viviana was very knowledgeable and really brought a new perspective on what was going on yesterday, today and in the future. Safe and fun. Loved it.
