Your 3-hour walking tour of Amsterdam begins in the morning in Dam Square, where your informative guide leads your small group around the historical center. Learn about Amsterdam's history, arts, culture and architecture, from the city’s humble beginnings on the Amstel River to the glorious Golden Age to today.

View the Royal Palace, the famous Dutch East Indies company, the Begijnhof courtyard with its hidden church, the Amsterdam Museum and the old city gates. Admire perfectly preserved 17th-century gabled houses and peaceful tree-lined canals dotted with traditional Dutch houseboats. Walk by the Rembrandt House Museum, the Anne Frank House and Descartes' House.

Wander down the bustling shopping street of Kalverstraat, and in the Jordaan district, note the many upscale art galleries, speciality shops and restaurants. Your guide also takes you into the alleys of the notorious Red Light District (de Wallen).

Tyler was the absolute best guide we could have asked for, hands down!!! His knowledge of the history of Amsterdam was so impressive and his personality set him apart from anyone else. We went on a Viking River Cruise the next day and had 6 tour guides on that trip, and they all paled in comparison to Tyler!! Not kidding! I highly recommend this tour as you get to see so many different areas of the city. He also recommended a local restaurant, Tomaz, if we were looking for authentic Dutch cuisine. We went there for a late lunch and it was amazing. Thank you so much Tyler, you are a true gem and Viator is very lucky to have you.

The small group tours are so much more personal than the bigger groups. Tyler was a great tour guide. He made sure we could all hear him and gave us plenty of opportunity to ask questions. We saw all of the main sites and learnt lots about the history of the city. Thank you Tyler.

Our tour was given by Tyler, who is friendly, funny, kept the tour moving and definitely kept it interesting. We started at the stock building, passed by the Anne Frank house where he gave us great information about WWII and her diary, passed by some of the churches and were on the outskirts of the red light district which he did not feel was necessary to visit kind of agree, just to mention a few highlights of the tour. In addition to hitting some of the major areas and landmarks within the city, Tyler pointed out and shared some lesser known aspects of the culture of Amsterdam. He introduced the concept of the brown cafes, old Genever drinking spots throughout the city. He, also, spent some time talking about the LGBTQ history of the Netherlands, mentioning Amsterdam's pride parade and pointing out certain relevant spots throughout the city. These additional bits of info made an already good tour great. Tyler is very easy going and a font of information. We greatly enjoyed our time with him.

Very nice tour and the walking wasn't so bad on you or your body. Majority of the stuff was in the same area and the tour guide did a great job allowing us to see the major point and giving background on everything. I enjoyed the tour a great deal and made for some nice photos along the way! A lot of fun it was.
