Overview

Explore a picturesque landscape of quiet canals, wooden bridges, and Dutch homes on a 9-hour tour from Amsterdam to Giethoorn, the ‘Venice of the Netherlands.’ This full-day Giethoorn tour includes transport from Victoria Hotel in central Amsterdam, and a 1-hour boat cruise through Giethoorn’s canals.
  • 9-hour Giethoorn Day Trip from Amsterdam
  • Visit a traditional Dutch village
  • 1-hour boat tour of Giethoorn
  • Round trip transportation from a central meeting point in Amsterdam
Meet a guide and group at 10:30am at Victoria Hotel, in central Amsterdam near Amsterdam Central Station. Board a luxury van or coach for the trip to Giethoorn. Giethoorn’s city center is filled with canals and is entirely car-free, so you’ll start by exploring on foot: walk at the water’s edge as traditional, flat-bottom punters cruise between small farmhouses.

Board a boat for a 1-hour guided tour of Giethoorn, cruising down the village waterways, ducking under wooden bridges, and learning about life in the area, which was once a waterlogged swamp. After the boat tour, you’ll have some free time to explore Giethoorn on your own, following narrow walking paths, browsing for souvenirs, or simply soaking up the easy-going atmosphere of the village. Don’t miss Giethoorn’s distinctive thatched-roof houses, which are fringed with small patches of green grass and compact gardens.

At the end of the afternoon, make the return trip to Amsterdam, where this tour concludes.

The guide Cherry was amazing. She connected with each of us so gracefully. She is the tour operator, founded this travel company single handedly at so young age.

Giethoorn was the perfect day trip from Amsterdam: arrived at the bus station at 10:30, back around 6:30, with lots of fun memories about the charms of Giethoorn and the friends we made in the tour group. Cherry is a fantastic tour guide! Experienced, knowledgeable, positive, high energy, and organized. Cherry offers the option of having lunch together after the boat tour - she orders in advance on the bus ride there, so bring cash if that interests you. If we were to do this again, we'd probably consider skipping the group lunch and checking out some of the other restaurants within Giethoorn, some of which are right on the water and nestled among the cute houses - perhaps even making a reservation in advance. Totally up to you! Thanks again to Cherry for being such a great host.

Nice place! Very beautiful but peaceful. The guide knows her stuff well. Very good value for money. It is better still to stay a bit longer except for the trouble of long journey there.

this tour, led by Cherry's travel was EXCELLENT - not only was giethoorn an amazing place, but our guides were just phenomenal. this tour has a long bus ride but our guides gave us tons of information and the time passed so quickly. the town was awesome, as was the history and information we were given. our tour company had an optional lunch extra cost- it was SO worth every penny - great service, good meal, and great organization by Cherry's travel. if you are in amsterdam, look for this company. they are GREAT!

Excellent attention. For personal reasons, we could not get to the tour in time, but we contacted immediately on the cell phone and they gave us directions to get to the place and join the tour.

Amazing tour! I will not hesitate to recommend it to everyone. Cherry, the tour guide was amazing. She is very friendly, knowledgeable and caring. She told us a lot of interesting stories about the village and Netherlands.
The day started at the cafe next to Victoria hotel, right opposite to Amsterdam central station, very easy to find. The tour guide and driver were very punctual. The coach took us straight to the centre of the village. We had a nice lunch together in Giethoorn, then had a boat trip, and 2 hours to explore the village on our own. I managed to take tons of nice photos.
On the way back, Cherry shared with us the photos of Giethoorn in different seasons and some other nice places in Netherlands.
Another thing to mention, I was having a bad cold on that day, and Cherry frequently checked if I'm ok. She is very caring person!
Next time when I'm back, I will definitely join her tour again!
