What You Can Expect

Private Guided Bike Tour to the Dutch Windmills

Country estate in Holland

Meet your guide and collect your rental bike (additional expense) at Amsterdam’s Central Station at the prearranged time on the morning of your tour. Start time and tour duration are flexible to suit your schedule, though a minimum of 5 hours and 25 km (16 miles) is recommended for the best experience.

Take a short ride to the starting point outside Amsterdam while your guide provides an overview of the landscape and itinerary options. Skip the city traffic and begin biking right in the picturesque countryside on relatively easy routes. Pedal past traditional windmills, rivers, canals, and country mansions built as the summer residences of Amsterdam’s wealthy families during the 17th and 18th centuries.

Take advantage of your art historian guide’s wealth of knowledge about the history and culture of the area. If you like, a traditional picnic lunch can be arranged including a variety of Dutch cheeses, bread baked from organic flour ground in a nearby mill, and various beverages (additional expense, please request in advance).

At the end of the customized route, return to Amsterdam and say farewell to your guide back at the original starting point.

We have lived in Europe and traveled back many times and this was the best tour we have ever done! It was personalized and a great price. We loved the homemade lunch and getting pictures sent to us after we arrived home. Our family is Dutch and we were even sent information about Dutch traditions. We would highly recommend this tour to everyone!!

This was truly an amazing bike tour, we got more than we paid for for sure. Edmond was extremely hospitable and very flexible in terms of Where we went. He took photos along the way and emailed them to us. He is a great historian. Our tour lasted close to 8 hours, and he saw us safely on the train at the end of the tour. I have done a great deal of tours in many countries, and I recommend a private tour with Edmond.

This was the BEST trip we had while in Holland. The guide was so knowledgeable and was prompt in meeting us. Our schedule was a bit difficult but he worked around our requests. The ride was about 3 hours with many informative stops. The pace was perfect. If there is one cycling tour you are considering, TAKE THIS ONE!

Everything, from start to finish, was seamless. Edmund was an excellent guide, prepared, informative, enthusiastic, and relaxed about customizing options for our day. My son 16 and I met Edmund at Amsterdam Central Station and went 15 minutes out of the city to the charming town of Weesp to start our adventure. The cycling was terrific. We asked Edmund to provide lunch, which was perfect, including buns made from organic flour from the windmill we visited. Edmund is a historical, and we enjoyed learning about The Netherlands! Highly recommended!
