Traveler Tips

There are other larger boats with tons of people for slightly cheaper, however this is totally worth paying extra for, nice quiet classic boat, personable and wasn't squashed like a sardine.
Someone mentioned that the canals are a little quieter in the mornings.
I would heartily recommend the tour to anyone, including families with small children, Incidentally, the dock which was our beginning and ending point is conveniently located, just a few minutes from the Amsterdam Flower Market.

Great afternoon.

I have enjoyed a few of these canal cruises, but this was the best. Comfortable ship and knowledgeable captain.
Very informative and friendly Guide
ArthurWalter_D, Aug 2020
This was an excellent trip around the canals and whilst the top was closed all of the sides were open allowing you to obtain great pictures. The guide spoke very good English and gave us some wonderful explanations of the buildings around the canal together with details of the bridges and the history.

The best canal boat tour!!

The boat tour was fantastic from start to finish. Our friendly captain welcomed us and gave detailed and interesting facts for the entire boat trip. The boat was lovely, such a pleasant place to see all the places of interest in Amsterdam. No worries about social distancing, there were only 6 people on a large boat. We highly recommend it!

Thank you Amy.

Really enjoyed this cruise. It was just my friend and I and two other couples. Great tour guide that gave us all the information we ever needed and more. Amsterdam was beautiful and the canals were amazing. Smooth ride! We went in November is it was fall and the boat was covered but he had sections opened for pics and allowed us to move about the boat. MUST DO WHEN IN AMSTERDAM. The guide was sweet and super knowledgeable. Offered us tea and coffee and other options for purchase.
Lovely Canal Cruise

Really enjoyed the cruise. Great skipper with lots of interesting stories about th3 sights we saw and the history of Amsterdam. Comfortable and beautiful boat.small group size was great.
Great boat, excellent captain/guide!

This is a nice, low-key way to see Amsterdam from a different perspective. The salon boat was very nice and our captain/guide was funny and full of great info!
Great tour, pretty boat
Richard_D, Oct 2019
We chose this tour over the others because we thought the boat size looked smaller and the boat looked nicer. The tour was exactly what we hoped for. Captain Mike gave us nice bits of history, and guided the "Swan through impossibly small bridge openings.
nice boat and captain -- wish it went through smaller canals
Karen M, Oct 2019
It was a lovely small salon boat and entertaining captain but we did a "big" loop canal instead of seeing some of the smaller canals that I thought the smaller boat would, Definitely worth the time and money just wish it was a bit longer
Great canal trip

The weather was bad but the entertainment was great. The guide was excellent and made everything interesting. A thoroughly enjoyable tour which I would recommend to anyone.
Great boat tour!

After seeing so many tour boats filled with 100 passengers listening through headsets I was so happy to tour Amsterdam's canals in a small boat. Our tour consisted of about a dozen passengers making it more intimate and enjoyable. Our tour guide and captain, Sjoerd, was fun, entertaining and informative. I highly recommend this small boat tour over the crowded ones.
Fun experience for the whole family!

What a fun way to see Amsterdam! My husband and I brought our 18 year old triplets on a "one-last-paid-by-parents-trip" to Europe and we started off in Amsterdam and this was our first excursion. We had a really fun time learning the history of Amsterdam and seeing the city this way! If you are considering this it! You won't be disappointed!

Thank you for your review, we appreciate you taking the time to let us know.
In Search of Amsterdam
Michael H, Jul 2019
On the hottest day in recorded Amsterdam history, we enjoyed a marvelous "semi private" Classic Canal Cruise through the waterways of this fabled city. Our boat captain (Arthur) guided the 1930s era craft flawlessly through the canals -- all the while telling us about the history, architecture, religious and social society of Amsterdam with a light touch and an occasional joke or was it Dutch humor. A really wonderful tour! For more information please see our You Tube channel: "HELLO WORLD! Travel the world in economy with M&M"
Response from Host, Aug 2019
Thanks Michael, Yes Arthur is one of our favorites too!
Very enjoyable
Jeffrey S, Jul 2019
My only complaint about this cruise was that the maximum number of people were on board and it was quite crowded and cramped. The driver said they usually don't have that many people. Otherwise the driver was very informative and entertaining. I would recommend this cruise to first-timers in Amsterdam.
Most Enjoyable Afternoon
Kee_G, Jul 2019
The guide “captain “was very good with informative information about the city and the boat was charming and comfortable.
Small boat canal cruise
Robert_H, Jul 2019
What a fun, comfortable and casual cruise on a covered wooden boat with only a few other passengers, that included most all of the canals in central Amsterdam. Funny and informative captain who provided a lot of the local history and color.
Relaxing, pleasant and child friendly!
MJ_F, Jun 2019
With a family of 3 including 11 month old infant we had a very pleasant tour around the town through countless canals. The boat is very cozy, sits 30 people and super skilled captain explained sites as we sailed on.
Great way to ease into the city!
Olivia_C, Jun 2019
We did the canal tour on our first full day and found it to be a pleasant way to explore the city. Our captain Jan was funny and knowledgable. Small group, which was nice and made it feel more personable. Would recommend.
I am a travel agent and took this cruise - would recommend to clients

We took the early cruise in the morning and it was fabulous. Captain Arthur was entertaining and provided great history about Amsterdam. Very funny and informative. There are other larger boats with tons of people for slightly cheaper, however this is totally worth paying extra for, nice quiet classic boat, personable and wasn't squashed like a sardine. My husband and I were very happy with this tour. I have been recommending this to our family and friends. Easy to find the departure point as well. Very satisfied. Kudos to this company.
