While in Jordan, high on the itinerary of every traveller is Petra: an ancient city featuring a magnificent tableau of pink sandstone tombs and temples. Departing Aqaba, this 10-hour tour not only takes you to Petra, but also to the sandstone desert of Wadi Rum, where rock sculptures litter the landscape. Take a guided tour of Petra’s ancient architecture, eat a traditional Jordan lunch, and enjoy the convenience of round-trip transport from your Aqaba hotel.
Your tour begins around 10:30am at your Aqaba hotel, where you’ll board an air-conditioned vehicle destined for the incomparable jewel of Petra. Following a 1-hour drive, you’ll arrive at Wadi Rum – a seemingly interminable desert landscape peppered with otherworldly rock formations and towering cliffs.
Stop to capture photographs before you continue to Petra, to take an unforgettable walking tour of the ancient archeological site and New7Wonder of the World. After strolling through Siq, a narrow chasm, you’ll behold the imposing columns of the Treasury, arguably Petra’s most iconic building.
See, too, the Roman amphitheater and admire the rose-tinted hue of sandstone caves, tombs, and temples as you explore one of the wonders of the world. Then, when hunger strikes, head to an authentic Jordan restaurant to revitalize with lunch.
Sated, you’ll return to Aqaba and bid your guide farewell at your hotel.
They were an hour late to pick me up. Then they didn't have a ticket for me into Petra, even though the tour sold here says that Petra is included. The tour guide bought my ticket for me after a lot of grumbling obviously I didn't spend over 200 for a bus ride to Petra?. The tour says it stops in Wadi Rum, it doesn't. All in all Petra was cool and the lunch was good and the tour guide was knowledgeable but all the errors and mess ups and false information really made this tour a let down.
We were first told, by email, we would be picked up at the port. That morning told we'd have to get on the shuttle and meet the guide. Once we were at the meeting point the guide told us we were waiting for other guests. We waited an hour. When the Van arrived it was already full. The back seat didn't work and they were pulling down a jump seat for a child that would have been who we sat with. TOO CROWDED!!! This is not a 20 min. drive. We would be riding like this for over an hour. Once we were there the tour was fine but didn't include many of the things I had read about. We didn't have enough time to see the things on our own.
The destination was GREAT--PETRA! We also really enjoyed our guide--very informative! The problems came with the logistics. I contacted the tour company the day before to confirm pick-up time. The next morning, we received an early call from the company saying the driver would be picking us up in an hour--an hour and a half earlier than agreed to the day before! Then, after we were in the car, we received another call telling us that we would be joining a group of 50 coming across the border from Israel! This tour was advertised as a small group. 50 is not a small group! It would have been helpful to know this information ahead of time...especially for the price. In addition, the tour bus was in terrible condition. The whole group ended up getting transferred to two smaller vans before the day was over. If you book this tour, make sure to verify details with this company before hand.
Tour was overpaid, even if ticket to Petra cost 70 dollars, all.the rest.was.too much. Group was huge so we should pay 170 dollars for private tour.not.huge group. They told us group will fit in minibus,. meanwhile we.had big bus full. I would never choose that company again.
Description says pick up at 10.30am. After booking I was told I would be picked up at 8.45am. They did not arrive until 9.45am and did not call me to say they were late or on their way. I wasted a lot of money on the phone to the local phone number for 30 minutes which was never answered. No stop in Wadi Rum. Lunch was actually after the entire tour had finished, around 5pm. Driver wanted to take the bus all the way back to the border with Israel before dropping me in the city. This is not a tour from Aqaba but a tour from Israel where they picked me up in addition. As a result the entire tour pick up and drop off revolves around the timing of the border crossing. Petra itself is great, just don't take this tour.
