Georgia was a wonderful guide. Very welcoming and charming. It was an excellent tour of the back streets to discover some hidden gems of Greece cuisine.
Great guide, great value for the money and we learned about the history of Greek foods
This was a great way to see a new city by eating our way through it! We were introduced to lots of different Greek foods through the markets and restaurants, finishing with delicious gyros. Definitely recommended.
This was my first international walking food group tour, and I have to say, the bar was set very high from this excursion. I participated in this walking food tour when I was in Athens back in Dec. of 2016, and I have to say it was definitely a major highlight of my trip to Athens! Despina was our guide, and she was absolutely phenomenal! She did a great job of integrating history lessons, historical and modern greek culture into the greek food, and we had plenty of chances to try real greek food, in places where local greeks, and not places caterintg to tourists, go grocery shopping, purchase a street stall snack, or even go to have an authentic Greek lunch. We even had to time purchase some food items as a shop that is family owned and sold locally grown and produced Greek products like olive tapenade, olive oi, soap, Mastic, etc. If you are in Athens, take this tour, and if you are lucky, you will get Despina. Next time I am in Athens, I definitely plan to take this tour again!
What a fun tour! Georgia was our guide, and she was fantastic from start to finish. She grew up in Athens so she knows all the best places to go. I highly recommend this hands-on experience!
Lucy was an amazing guide who gave us lots of history behind the food that we were trying and also introduced us to some outstanding new types of food. I would definitely do again when I go back to Athens!
We enjoyed our food tour with Georgia. It was fun! And we had a fun group of Israelis and a Brit with us. Georgia brought us to many places and we tried various food items we wouldn't have tried otherwise. The backstreets where the Greeks shop and eat were particularly fascinating. We loved the loukoumades and the Fotsis herb store especially. It's fascinating to see the rows and rows of spices and herbs there. Many Greeks shop there for their spices, so you know it's the real deal. Just be prepared to go on an empty stomach and eat to your heart's content.
Absolutely amazing. One of the highlights of our trip to Athens. Learning about Greek food and history and eating it along the way.
I can't recommend this tour highly enough, it was fantastic! Went with my husband and 3 friends and we had a fabulous time with Despena. She was friendly, funny and knowledgable. The food was great. It's a must do
Well worth it. Georgia had an intense passion for her job. She was really into everything and was all smiles. I loved how she explained everything even the simple foods like the morning snack bread Greeks eat. We tried everything from bread, to desserts, to a variety of teas, a stroll through the fish market, the fruit market, and the famous soulvaki Gyro as we call it in America. There were many times when vendors would flirt with her, but she always handled it professionally. Each taste of food was accompanied with a short history lesson concerning the food and part of the culture. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire thing and consider it the highlight of my stay in Athens. I'm a pretty big eater, but by the end of the tour I was full.
The tour group was indeed small, only 5 of us, but that did not stop us from having fun. Everyone was from America, except one from the Philippines. We all got along well, and, by then end of the tour, we all sat around the table and talked for a long time. I highly encourage everyone to try this tour.
Amazing tour! It you are lucky enough to get Georgia you will not be disappointed. The food selections were great!. Her enthusiasm made it even more enjoyable!
OUTSTANDING tour and I highly recommend!! Our guide was wonderful and she worked hard to make sure everyone was happy and full!! DO NOT eat breakfast before you attend this awesome event!!
Georgia was very informational, funny and really took charge off the tour. Thank you for a great, AND SO FILLING, day!

Great tour, highly recommended for everyone who is visiting Greece. It was fun, interesting and I learned about all the different types of Greek and also local food. I also visited stores and bought local spices and food. Thank you!
Booked this Tour without really knowing what to expect. We were not disappointed and were lucky to have Georgia as our Guide. Georgia is passionate about Greek food and very knowledgeable about the origins of Greek food and the strong party food plays in Greek culture.
The Tour enabled us to experience a wide range of Greek food and took us to areas of Athens that we would not normally have ventured. The highlight for us was the visit to the Meat Seafood and Fruit and vegetable markets. At the end of the Tour we felt we had eaten like a Greek were local Greeks would go to eat. With the knowledge we had gained from Georgia throughout the Tour we were more selective where we ate for the remainder of our stay in Athens as we looked for places where the Locals ate.
This experience was by far the highlight of our Athens trip. Georgia was our tour guide and she was extremely energetic, informative, and eager to share her wisdom. Really enjoyed it.
This tour not only introduced us to novel Greek foods, it also introduced us to area of the city of Athens we wouldn't have otherwise gone and enjoyed. Highly recommended. However when other reviews suggested not eat before you go was slightly misleading. It starts early morning and it takes a while before you actually do start eating. Ok we got a prezel right off the bat but a prezel does not constitute breakfast particularly if you are not fond of prezels which we were not. So we suggest you have something for breakfast before you go on this tour. We did and we were glad we did. Otherwise it was a great experience!
This tour was more than just a food sampling tour although we certainly did sample many foods. It was also an introduction to the back streets and markets of Athens. The tour took us to places we wouldn't have thought to go and now we know there is so much more to Athens than the Plaka, wonderful as the Plaka is. We thank our guide for a wonderful experience.
A very good tour. Great value for money. Our guide Lucy was excellent. Knowledgable, dedicated to the tour and cared about each member of the tour group.
Georgia was amazing. Friendly, fun and informative. She really brought the real Greek experience of every day to life. Well worth the cost.
Lucy Loukia was very personable. It was a good experience taking the road less traveled and making many cultural stops. There was a lot of food so don't eat breakfast before! Would recommend. We had a group of 13.
This was a fabulous tour! Never would have learned about the history or gone into the markets on our own. Our guide was fabulous and the tastings were incredible. A definite must!
Amazing food tour!! Our guide, Zoë, was both knowledgeable and entertaining. Each culinary experience was tasty and provided an insight into the Greek traditions and culture.
Georgia showed us around the city and she did an amazing job explaining all of the samples to taste and smell as well as the sights to see along the way. We got great explanations about the history of food in Athens and the role it plays in Greek culture today! The tour started at 9:30 and ended around 1:30 or 2 and it was enough food to hold us over until dinnertime. Definitely worth every Euro-cent!
