What You Can Expect

Atlanta City Sightseeing Tour by Segway

Segway Tour

There are walking tours and there are bus tours, but this unique Segway tour provides an entirely new perspective on the city of Atlanta.
Riding on a Segway isn’t rocket science, but it’s important to know how to maneuver one, especially gliding around a large city like Atlanta. So this tour begins at the Doubletree Hotel with a brief but thorough training session to make sure everyone feels comfortable and knowledgeable about their Segway. Additionally, all passengers must weight between 100 and 300 pounds to participate.
With the training out of the way, it’s time to hit the open road.
On this 2.5-hour Segway tour around Atlanta, cruise along to the quirky Cabbagetown neighbourhood on the city’s east side. This former Mill town is now home to amazing artistry and eats — some of the best food in Atlanta, in fact. Continue to the nearby Oakland Cemetery, the oldest cemetery and one of the largest green spaces in Atlanta. Check out the spectacular view of the Atlanta skyline from here.
Then in the Old Fourth Ward is the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, featuring several buildings, including Martin Luther King, Jr.'s childhood home and the original Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he was not only baptized, but also where he and his father were pastors.
Roll through the Inman Park neighborhood, Atlanta's first planned community and one of the nation's first garden suburbs. This U.S. Historic District was also part of the battlefield in the Civil War’s Battle of Atlanta in 1864. Then travel along the Atlanta BeltLine, the former railway corridor around the core of the city that is a model of innovative redevelopment.
Finally, return to the downtown starting point, the Doubletree Hotel, a lot wiser about Atlanta’s past and present.

We had a fantastic time. CK was a great guide--very knowledgeable about Atlanta, and gave us informative and fun history. He was also great as a Segway guide, being alert and careful for everyone in the tour, and those who we were scooting past.

We took this tour with ATL-Cruzers in late March and it was great! C.K. and Steve were our guides and they both did a great job! C. K. is a native of Atlanta and obviously very passionate about his home town. They both were very knowledgeable and answered all our questions, even ones nothing to do with the tour. We started in downtown Atlanta among the sky scrapers, but for a good portion of the tour we were out in the neighborhoods away from the traffic. They shared a lot of interesting facts about the history of Atlanta and the things we were seeing from shotgun houses to mansions. Don't miss trying out the local popsicles when they stop there, they are great. We had a whole basketball team come at the same time as our tour, but they brought in extra guides so they could take care of everyone and keep on schedule. After the training session they split us up into smaller groups which made it nice. Besides the fun of the tour itself, the Segways are a lot of fun to ride! My wife and I do the Segway tour wherever we go on vacation. Great tour! Highly recommended!
