I had a fantastic afternoon. My guide Jennifer Tyler, an Atlanta native and a chef herself, took me on a Southern Food Tour. It was like meeting a friend a very knowledgeable one and taking a stroll together through the history of Atlanta. The great food was an extra bonus of course.
Jennifer told me about the Civil Rights movement, the food, the places we went, but she could also answer all my difficult nerdy questions. She knows about street art, about the neighbourhoods, and food in general. Moreover, she's a fun person to spend a day with. She even brought me hand warming pouches because it was a cold day.
We had several small bites, but they add up to a full meal. Come hungry and with comfortable walking shoes.
Loved our Southern Food Tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and the food selections were fabulous. I really feel we had a taste of Atlanta and Southern food!

My husband and I went on the Atlanta Southern Food tour in October 2017. Our tour guide, Joy, made sure we had a great time and was very knowledgeable about the different restaurants and neighborhoods we visited on the tour. It was a great way to try a bunch of different types of food without having to go eat a whole meal at each restaurant, but on top of that we learned a lot about the history of both the food and the areas. We highly recommend this tour!
Loved the whole tour. Fantastic History on Civil Rights without too much. Fun walking to all the restaurants., Enjoyed all the food. Best Chicken and best BBQ ever. Some of the girls brought their husbands back to the restaurant for dinner. of us were on the tour and we all agreed it was the best tour we have ever been on.
Atlanta's Southern Food Tour was fantastic! Joy, our guide, was personable and engaging, the true highlight of the tour. She showed a great passion for both the food and the historical significance of the area, and their relation to, and on, each other. There was an wonderful variety of foods, lighter and heavier, showcasing the different restaurants but also the different influences on southern cuisine. We patronized over half of the restaurants during the remainder of our stay in Atlanta, only two more days.
I got this tour as an anniversary gift for my husband and myself. We has an amazing time. It was soooo much more than food. There was great conversation, history about the city and we met people from all over USA as well as Canada. Recommend to everyone. This is my new go to gift for people that have everything.
A wonderful walk through downtown Atlanta with lots of history and Civil Rights stories. The walk was broken up by the food tasting of excellent southern fayre in some great locations. Our guide, Joy, by name and nature, made the whole experience the highlight of our time in Atlanta.
