What You Can Expect

Begin your surfing experience with a pickup from your Auckland hotel or prearranged meeting point in the city center. Then, travel by climate-controlled vehicle to Piha beach on the western edge of the Waitakere Ranges, a native rain forest that stretches along Auckland’s west coast.

Wrestle into a wet suit and get fitted with a surf board, then head down to the shoreline with your experience instructor. See a demonstration of proper paddling techniques and practice jumping up on the board while still on the sand.

When the time comes, fasten your ankle strap and paddle out into the sea. Your instructor will be nearby at all times to help guide you, correct you on your form and assist you in catching your very first waves.

Back on the shore, you’ll have time to dry off and explore the surrounding area before driving to a local cafe for an included lunch.

Your experience concludes with a drop-off back in central Auckland.
