Long trip from Auckland but well worth it. The caves are amazing and we had a great time at Hobbiton, taking lots of photos. My wife now wants to see all the Lord of the Rings movies!

All that was missing was the hobbits in hobbiton. Our driver was very informative on the Maori culture and its effects on the political history of New Zealand

Hobbiton tour started with a delicious buffet lunch including a good variety of choice items. The lunch tent and tables created the atmosphere of living in the Shire. Our movie set tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies and described in detail the various Hobbit houses and background of the movie set along with the transition agreement with the farm for the ongoing tours. The movie set is well maintained and has year round gardeners that plant huge pumpkins and squash. At the end of the walking tour, it was a treat to enjoy a closing drink in the pub. Highly recommended and a five star, must see attraction in Auckland!!

Great tour. Professional, fun driver of the bus, Sue. Hobbiton has it down for efficiency. The tour is fun and well planned.
The glow worms were okay, but the guides did not seem very interested in their topics.

We loved everything about this day! If you're a fan of Lord of the Rings and even if you aren't you will enjoy it! The Movie set was nothing that we expected - it was so much better! You have lots of opportunities for great pictures and it was a beautiful day. The lunch was also really good. If you have a chance, take this tour! You won't be disappointed!

Fantastic tour and enjoyed the sites immensely. Tour guide/driver was very annoying though - talked for the full 2 1/2 hours to Hobbiton and not about where we were going and the history - was quite political which was off putting. Loved Hobbiton and the little houses. Lunch was amazing and well catered for. Great cider!!! Caves were amazing. Well worth the money.

Calling all Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves, and men of Middle Earth: this outstanding day-long trip from Auckland would be very hard to top. We made reservations on-line before leaving the USA, were plucked up and dropped back at our hotel, had a funny and knowledgable guide, Tony, who was an artist at maneuvering that massive bus in and out of inner city and highway traffic. Trip down to Hobbiton took about 2-1/2 hours, with lively commentary as we went along. Once at the Alexander farm/Hobbiton movie set we spent about 3 hours walking around the movie set not suitable for folks with disabilities...my husband was walking with a cane and it was all he could do to keep up, culminating in a very nice buffet luncheon at the Green Dragon Pub. Photo ops everywhere you look, we were told that the record for most pictures taken was 3,000!

Back on the bus for another hour or so down to the Waitomo Caves and the glow worms. BEWARE: this tour is NOT for folks who are afraid of the dark, who are claustrophobic, or who are mobility impaired. The caves are magnificent, but LOTS of steps going down, down, down. There are plenty of hand rails to help you, though. End up on a small boat - getting in and out of the boat is a little tricky, but there is assistance from the guides.

This is a great tour, and includes a very nice luncheon.

What makes a great tour even better? A great guide! We knew we had a lot of travel time on this tour but Damion made the fly by and gave us our best insight to New Zealand we could have wished for. We learned more about New Zealand with him as we did over the 2 weeks we were here. Thank You. Back to the tour. Hobbiton was interesting especially for a fan of Tolkien. The place is meticulously kept. Lunch was well worth it. The glow worms were also something to see but it was a short experience. But it is what it is. Both something to see.

The whole cave experience form the cave it's self to the amazing Glow Worms was a fantastic adventure. Our guide at Hobbiton was very knowledgeable on all the sets and supplied us with stories on how things were done.It was a fantastic tour.

Enjoyed the trip. Professionally done. Good buffet lunch and plenty of time to take pictures at Hobbiton. The only disappointment was that at Waitomo caves photography is not allowed.

Venues amazing. Our bus driver was informative, she was very friendly and efficient. Felt very safe in her hands. Rain hanging around didn't damped our day. What a spectacular experience at hobbiton and the food was great. Waitomo caves was magical. I highly recommend this company and attractions.

The Hobbiton town was beautiful, and from what they were saying they are working on opening up a few of the hobbit houses so you can actually go in and look around.
The caves were also very neat. The worms were much brighter than I expected and the tour was very informative.

This tour was superb and as advertised. Our tour guide for the day was very informative/passionate and provided vast knowledge into the history of New Zealand, as well as other less known facts about the country when traveling between destinations. I would highly recommend this activity!

As a Lord of the Rings fan i was ecstatic. The Waitomo caves were breathtaking and ethereal. Absolutely stunning. The tour guide was great - very interesting stories about the land that we passed. It was raining but the landscape didn't fail to impress. Please bring appropriate rain gear if need be and of course check the weather. I believe that if i wasn't dressed in my rain boots and coat i would have been very uncomfortable.

Damian was a great tour guide. We learned a lot about Auckland. Something we will need to research on the Internet, but with him, everything was handed down to us. Thank you!
We've seen all the Lord of the Rings movies, but coming to Hobbiton made the movies come alive in front of our eyes. Amazing!

Hobbiton was lovely. The sets are well maintaines and the guides were very good. We are big LOTR fans but I think even a non fan would enjoy the beautiful countryside.
Waitomo caves
We loved the whole experience of being guided by Maori youngsters who were proud of their heritage and took us through the caves giving it an atmosphere it deserved. Our guide was gentle funny and well informed. The way she moved our boat was fun to watch. The caves were great!

Our bus driver talked too much about NZ politics, healthcare etc. I for one am interested in the culture of the Kiwis and what the youngsters think of their country.

I have not read or watched The Lord of the Rings, but my husband loves the movies. I booked this tour and thoroughly enjoyed it! The town is so cute and I was able to stop and take amazing pictures throughout. We also got a beer at the Green Dragon Inn and had a surprisingly good lunch. Our tour guide also noted that about 40 of visitors have never watched/read the series -- so don't let that stop you from going. Stop at the little cafe/souvenir shop just outside of the entrance to the farm -- it's the only place you can buy LOTR things. The glow worm caves were also incredible. It was a nice way to round out the day.

Excellent one day trip, our tour guide was awsome and explained everything quite well, from the new zealand idiosyncrasies to the best ice cream.
The waitomo caves although amazing and interesting, it's a quick stop... I would rather visit Rotorua

The trip was a bit long but worth it to see the once in a lifetime glow worms and caves as well as the movie set. Fabulous drinks and brunch too!
