Good but could also do it yourself

Had a good time on this tour and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. If you are staying in Avignon and want to get up to cote do rhone country it's a good idea. If you have already rented a car I'd be tempted to drive to wineries yourself as its very easy to walk in and do a tasting. That said, you get a lot more information this way and don't feel obligated to buy any wine. It's up to you.

Enthusiastic guide made trip a great experience. The wine tasting was a pleasurable experience. The Roman ruins have to be seen to be believed.

Our guide Melanie was knowledgeable and pleasant and, although the Triumphal Arch and Roman Theatre at Orange were interesting, we would have liked more time tasting more wines. However, we did enjoy the winery presentation and tasting, which was entertaining and informative.

We only had 3 guest in the group which was great! Orange was a welcome surprise. The audio guide took you to different spots where you learned about the history of the theatre. Instead of hearing about it in one long spiel, the narrator broke it up into sections which helped hold your attention while you moved about the arena. Lots of stairs and uneven surfaces, so not for everyone but I loved it. Chateauneuf-du-Pape was a different story. We were taken to the winery Ogier which is in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region. The lady giving the tour was quite rude throughout the presentation. There were 2 groups visiting and everyone was put-off by her attitude. No one bought any wine, probably due to her attitude. This was a disappointment as we had every intention of purchasing wine from this region to bring home. But there was no way I would buy from this lady.

The tour was completely as advertised. We had the right amount of time in Orange and the wine tour was great for a first-time wine tasting. It was a relaxing afternoon but we also saw a great deal. Our guide was very knowledgeable both about the items on the tour and more generally in answering our questions about the Avignon area. She used perfect English and also was very patient in letting us practice our French.
