Immerse yourself in the beauty of Rhône Valley wine country on this half-day tour from Avignon. In a small group, wind through verdant hills en route to two esteemed wine estates where you’ll take guided tours and taste sumptuous AOC-classified wines, from crisp rosés in Tavel to an array of world-class varietals in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Your 4-hour tour begins with afternoon pickup from your Avignon hotel. Relax as your minibus winds into the verdant Rhône Valley, a fertile and faceted wine region with many distinctive appellations.
Visit two acclaimed wineries, starting in the Tavel region, where tastings of the estate’s signature rosés are complemented by a stroll through the lovely grounds. Sip on hand-selected wines while learning about the area’s terroir (environmental characteristics), and note the exquisite color and flavor that distinguishes Tavel’s prized wines.
Next, drive east to the world-famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, where the prestigious Appellation d'Origine Controlée (AOC) regulations were developed. While at the wine estate, you’ll learn more about the AOC rules that set the standard for fine wine as you stroll through facilities and enjoy a tasting session including several beautiful samples. By the end of the tour, you’ll better understand the rich ecology of the Rhône Valley and the elite art of viticulture in southern France.
Relax on the ride back to Avignon, returning to your hotel by early evening.

If all you did on this tour was taste Taval it would be 5 stars. The rest is icing on the cake.
Really fun tour. Guide was great and very knowledgable. There were 3 couple including us and it was a great group.
Small group tour of two wineries. Drive/tour guide was knowledgeable and nice. He picked us up right on time in Avignon and the van was comfortable and had air conditioning. Would recommend.
We really enjoyed this tour mainly because our tour guide Nicolas was very knowledgeable and engaging. He told us interesting history and fun stories. The wineries we visited were very nice and it happened to be the perfect length of tour, as more than 2 tasting locations would have put me to sleep. The scenery was beautiful and we even stopped on the way to take pictures at a historical place with a great view of the valley. I highly recommend this tour if this you are new to Avignon and want to know about the wine and history of the region!
This was an excellent wine tour! Got picked up in nice SUV near hotel. A small group of 7. Saw some amazing scenery, in addition to a great wine tasting at a winery which had a long history. Interesting tour earning about the casks of various size and age. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this activity.
Wonderful visit to two wineries. Beautiful countryside. Guide showed us vineyards in addition to going to two different sites. The C-d-P site included an informative tour of the facility.
Excellent tour. Julien was great and gave us a real insider's look at the vineyards and wineries. It was like spending an afternoon with a friend you've come to visit who is proudly showing you around his piece of the world. Both wineries were very interesting and Alexandre was most informative about the process of turning grape juice into fine wine and production of wine barrels as he showed us around Tavel's cellars.
Fabulous tour guide - knew his stuff, was from the region, spoke English well. Kept us moving but didn't rush us.
Stops at Tavel, Chateauneuf du Pape, both great. Fun tastings.
The tour was exceptionally well paced. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable. We loved the wines and learned a lot about the wine making process.
The tour was very good and we learned a lot! Our tour guide was so nice and very interesting.
