What You Can Expect

Start your morning with pickup from your hotel in Ayers Rock and transfer to the airport.

After a safety briefing, don your radio headset in order to hear your pilot's commentary, then board your fixed-wing plane for your scenic flight. Follow the northern and western faces of Uluru and Kata Tjuta and spot the remains of an ancient coral reef en route to Lake Amadeus. Circle the water at low altitude to see the details, then ascend so that you can view the entire 112 miles (180 km) of the lake.

Next, appreciate the vastness of the Australian outback as you fly to Kings Creek Station. After a gentle landing, visit the station house, meet some of the tame camels, and purchase snacks or lunch from the station house before transferring to the helicopter.

Your scenic helicopter flight over Kings Canyon traces the George Gills Range toward the Wannamarra community located near Baggots Gorge. Keep an eye out for wild horses, camels, and cattle along Petermann creek and Petermann Pound. Continue west over Petermann Saddle, a natural rock bridge on the border of Watarrka National Park, then track the north cliff of the George Gill Range toward Carmichael Crag. Near Kings Canyon, your pilot shows you the Lost City and the Garden of Eden waterhole.

Return to Kings Creek Station by  helicopter and transfer into the fixed-wing plane to go back to Ayers Rock Airport, taking in the eastern end of Lake Amadeus on the way.

Hear informative commentary about the Red Centre throughout your journey, which ends after five hours with drop-off at your Ayers Rock hotel.

This was one of the best tours my husband and I had been on. Lake Amadeus was as spectacular as Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Kings Canyon was also very beautiful. Our pilots Sam and Jake were terrific. Highly recommended.
