Your tour begins with an 8.30am pickup from your central Bagan hotel by private vehicle. Accompanied by your private guide, set out to explore the vast Bagan Archaeological Zone, starting with a visit to the Schwezigon Pagoda. Learn how the bell-shaped stupa became a prototype for Burmese stupas, as you marvel at the gleaming gold monument, then continue to the 13th-century Gubyaukhyi Temple, renowned for its vibrant paintings depicting the life of Buddha.
After lunch (own expense), visit the revered Ananda Pahto, the largest of the Bagan temples, which was built around 1105 by King Kyanzittha. Take a break from exploring the temples to visit a local village and enjoy a traditional lacquerware workshop, then return to watch the sunset over the plains – a magnificent sea of temples silhouetted against the red sky.
Your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel around 5.30pm.
