What To Expect

Meet your guide and group at Icharishahar metro station, where he or she will be wearing a badge with the 'Baku Explorer' logo on it. Tour times are 10 a.m. or 4 p.m., choose tour departure option at checkout.

Begin your tour in Old Town, where you will learn about the beginnings of the city in the 5th century. End up at Baku Seaside Boulevard, lined with both ancient and modern buildings. Along the way, listen to your guide's commentary on the culture, music, people, and food of Azerbaijan.

End your 5-hour tour back at the departure point with a better idea of what you may like to do during the remainder of your stay in Baku.

Baku Old City

As soon as you meet your guide at the exit of Icharishahar metro station, we will enter Baku Old Town, called "Icharishahar". Old Town of Baku is a beautiful maze, full of narrow streets, surprising sights, old wooden balconies, stone roads and an atmosphere that you'll never forget. A discovery by itself, every time you visit this part of the city. Your guide will tell you stories of locals about the Old Town and how it was changed and developed throughout the history.

Museum of Miniature Books used to be in the Guinness Books of World Records until recently, but still it has a great collection of miniature and even almost microscopic books. A small museum that will be our first stop on our way to discover more!

Sabina, my tour guide, was amazing. The day was cold and the president of Croatia visited so some things and streets were closed, but that was completely out of anyone's control. So, besides that, to see the city, hear the stories and have a friendly guide who's English was impeccable was wonderful!

My guide was Jamil, and I can't recommend him highly enough -- we met up exactly as I was instructed, very easy to find and very friendly right off the bat. I had a wonderful tour through the old and the new of Baku, he interspersed personal stories with the many interesting historical and cultural facts of the city, and introduced me to authentic, affordable, and excellent Azerbaijani food when it was time for lunch. Definitely take this tour if you're looking for an easy, walkable introduction to this fascinating place.

This was a great way to get an introduction to the city. The guide was wonderful. In addition to being knowledgeable and friendly, he also helped me get a metro card and change money at a bank. I would definitely recommend this tour for first time visitors to Baku.
