A sunrise climb to the summit of the Mount Batur volcano has long been a bucket-list favourite for visitors to Bali, but scaling the sacred peak is a challenging hike that’s not suitable for everyone. This private Caldera trek is the ideal alternative for less experienced hikers, including a spectacular sunrise hike around the caldera, a cruise across Lake Batur, a swim in the Batur hot springs (optional) and a visit to a Luwak coffee plantation.
  • 8-hour private sunrise hike to Mount Batur
  • Hike around the caldera of Mount Batur on an early-morning trek
  • Watch the dreamy sunrise over Mount Batur and Lake Batur
  • Cruise across Lake Batur and take a dip at the Batur hot springs (optional)
  • Sample famous local coffee, Kopi Luwak
  • Easy to medium level hike suitable for less experienced hikers
  • Great value tour includes hotel pick-up, round-trip transport and breakfast
  • This private tour ensures you’ll receive personalized attention from your guide
Set your alarm for an early start, as your day begins with pick-up from your hotel around 3:30am. On arrival in Ulundanu around 5:15am, meet your guide and set out on the short trek to the Caldera wall.
Arrive at the top of the Caldera around 6am, and tuck into breakfast, including hot tea and coffee, as you watch the spectacular sunrise over Mount Batur and Batur Lake. Then, continue your hike around the crater, passing through traditional Balinese villages en-route to Pulak. Here, a traditional canoe will be waiting to take you across Lake Batur, affording impressive views of the sacred volcano as you cruise to the opposite shore.
If you’ve chosen the tour option including the hot springs, you’ll now head to the natural springs for a relaxing dip in the naturally steamy waters. Alternatively, head straight to the Luwak coffee plantation, where you can learn the secrets of the world’s most expensive coffee, and sample a range of Balinese teas and coffees.
After an action-packed morning, your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
