Visit Brunei’s top sights on a half-day tour of Bandar Seri Begawan, and explore royal landmarks, religious architecture, and treasures belonging to the Sultan of Brunei. Your itinerary includes the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, the Royal Regalia Museum, and the Sultan’s official residence, the grandiose Istana Nurul Iman. This 3-hour Bandar Seri Begawan tour includes all entrance fees, as well as pickup and drop-off at your centrally-located accommodations, with the option to add a trip to Kampong Ayer, a remarkable water village built on stilts.
Meet a driver at your accommodations for 9am or 2pm departure, then get your bearings on a short drive through the city, passing Brunei’s Royal Ceremonial Hall and Dewan Majlis, the elaborate house of parliament. The first stop of the day is Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque, where modern Islamic designs fuse with Mughal and Italian architecture at the edge of the Brunei River. Continue to the Royal Regalia Museum to see artifacts from the royal life of the Sultan of Brunei, from diplomatic gifts to weapons, headdresses, and an enormous royal chariot. See another fine example of Brunei’s religious architecture at Jame’Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque, the largest mosque in the country. Finally, visit the record-setting residence of the Sultan of Brunei at Istana Nurul Iman, the largest residential palace in the world. Enjoy views of the palace with the backdrop of lush hills and a winding river. If you’ve opted for the tour that includes Brunei’s sprawling water village, make a stop at Kompong Ayer before this tour concludes with drop-off at your hotel.
Great tour, gave us lots of new information about Bandar and Brunei. The weather was a challenge due to rain, but the tour guide adjusted the tour to keep us dry. It worked out very well. Mr Zul was a great guide, spoke excellent english and was very informative. Recommend tour and be sure to include the water village, its worth a look.
Jeffrey our tour guide was very articulate and spoke with great knowledge on the history of Brunei. It was very interesting listening to him as he explained everything one has to know about Brunei. We took the half day tour and not one moment was wasted. It was the most educational half day tour we have ever had. Even managed to go to the Water Village or the Kampong Ayer as it is called locally and was served tasty local delicacies in one of the houses of the locals. Indeed one of the most enjoyable tours we ever had and learning so much all in a span of a half day! Very much worth it! Highly recommended for everyone to journey the Abode of Peace. Will have to do the Temburong rainforest tour on our next visit.
This tour was really good, although I also booked the night city tour and it was basically the same thing with the addition of the water village experience and a few other things that Razie took us to. Razie was exceptional and very passionate about Brunei and we had a very enjoyable experience in this small country.
Saw the main sights of Bandar Seri Begawan, including the main mosques, the downtown area, government buildings and the Brunei Museum and Royal Regalia Center. Took a boat to the Water Village and toured the home of a resident. Had baked treats and tea in the home. A really good partial day introduction to the city. Our guide was a local person with a lot of knowledge about the inner workings of Brunei and he explained many of the local customs. Note - we toured on a Friday and were unable, as non-Muslims, to enter the mosques. We knew this when booking the tour, as this was the only day that worked for us.
