Bridge on the River Kwai and Thailand-Burma Railway Tour

An early morning rise to catch the bus to drive out to the area near the bridge. We were then transported in a long boat up the river to the bridge. The long boats do not cater for people with long legs. After having time to walk over the bridge, we caught the train for a 1 1/2 hour train ride before being taken for a lunch at a local restaurant. Good food served at the table. Then a long ride back to the city in the bus. Unfortunately we arrived back in Bangkok in peak hour traffic so travel was slow.

Very interesting history trip and it was great to see things that I had heard about all my life. We were well looked after and everything was explained well. Wonderful to actually walk the bridge and be in places where the prisoners were. Everyone should do this tour to see what the servicemen had to suffer for our country. A lot of ignorant people in other tour groups needed to get the idea of the significance of the sites.

Picked up on time from the hotel, for the long drive to Kanchanaburi. The guide 'Om' was friendly and super enthusiastic and had some great knowledge of the events surrounding the construction of the railway.
Itinerary was well arranged,, first the cemetery at Kanchanaburi, then onto the museum built in the site of one of the work camps. Then into the boat for a fun trip up to the bridge before opportunity for photos whilst awaiting the train. We stopped for a late lunch, which was very good (and more than we could eat) before the long drive back (3 hours) albeit with a coffee/comfort stop en route.
Overall a very well organised tour, met some lovely people and Om the guide was very good throughout.
