Explore Bangkok’s history and heritage on a group or private, half-day guided tour that takes in the city’s finest temples. Step into the hushed grandeur of Wat Pho and light a candle beside the massive reclining Buddha, then stroll between the distinctive chedis built for four Chakri kings. Take in the architectural grace of Wat Benchamabophit, a marble temple with ornately stepped-out roofs, then discover the treasure inside Wat Trimitr, where a gleaming Buddha sits lotus style, weighed down by 5.5tons (5 tonnes) of solid gold.
Praneen gave us good insight into the Buddhist faith and customs of the Thai people. She was knowledgeable about the various Buddha statues. We would have enjoyed more time seeing the various chakra (chapels?) rather than going to the gem store. To be a more complete “city” tour it might be nice to expand the time to include 30 minutes in Chinatown and the Indian fabric market.
We traveled to three temples with Andy, our tour guide. The journey was comfortable as the Van had space for 8 people and there were only 4 of us. The pickup and dropoff from and to the hotel made it very convenient.
The three temples were exceptional and Andy was a good guide with a fair idea of the history of the temples. What he did not know, he made up for by his exuberance. A very engaging and insightful journey.
I just wish that the trip included the guide giving us a commentary on the areas we passed - it would have helped us learn more about the city.
Really good trip, guide informative and temples fascinating. Trip ruined though by finishing at a gem factory where you are literally dumped and they take you back to your hotel not the tour operator, our driver didnt know where the hotel was and it took 2 hours to get back.
