Before arriving at the market, stop at a coconut sugar pfarm to learn about the fabrication process and sample sweet candies.

Once you arrive at Damnoen Saduak, transfer to a long-tailed speedboat for a thrilling ride through marshes lined with stilt houses en route to the markets. Your guide shares information and answers any questions you have about what you're seeing along the way.

Traveler Tips

Decent enough short day but just another Thai/Chinese market really.
My advice would be to skip the boat ride (they literally take you only thru the souvenir area and go so slow that 2 turns takes the whole 30 minutes).
Pickup was super early but in Bangkok you just have to do that to avoid traffic.

Long way to go
RnB, Feb 2020
It is a very long way to go for not an overly authentic experience. Best part was the boat ride to the market. Coconut farm was not enjoyable. Food at floating markets was good. 4 hours in a minibus was a bit of a waste of a time

Floating market

Our tour guide was very good. She was very informative and attentive. Only issue we had with the tour is that we had to wait about 30-45 minutes on the side of the highway for 2 passengers. The floating markets is a nice experience, the bus was clean and the commute was quick.
missed tour!

I didn't go on this trip, due to confusion about pick up location. I payed for it and was looking forward to it, but in the end was not told soon enough about whether I was being picked up from my hotel, (as I had been on previous tours with the same company (tour east thailand) or other hotel. Assumed that they would pick me up from my hotel as they had done previously and transport went without me. very dissapointing, but got quick refund to paypal account.

An OK trip

Decent enough short day but just another Thai/Chinese market really. Boat trip is good. The boats float; the market's on firm ground!

Our guide was pretty quiet on the long ride to the floating markets. I like when guides share the country history and information about where we are driving as we go. Also the floating market was a lot more touristy than I expected. My advice would be to skip the boat ride (they literally take you only thru the souvenir area and go so slow that 2 turns takes the whole 30 minutes). Instead walk to the left, toward the start of the floating market and experience more of the market aspect rather than the tourism one.
The worse tour of my life
Irina_M, Dec 2019
Do not buy this tour. First: you spend all day sitting in the traffic. Second: They give you transportation to the market. You have to pay for the boat to see the market. Do not waste your money. This tour is rip-off.
Amazing time.

Very cool trip to floating market. Never will you see anything like this anywhere else! Professional staff and very accommodating! We really liked them!
Fun way to shop
Richard_H, Nov 2019
Ŕide showed up right on time. A fun experience where you get good deals if you negotiate hard. Their 1st offer is usually 2X what they are willing to sell for. Guide spoke English well. Side trip to Tiger park was good too.

Early morning start but bus broke down so couldn't be picked up from our hotel so was contacted and requested to catch a cab across town. That was all good and I was reimbursed for the taxi ride. Nice driver and tour guide. Enjoyable at the market, variety of stalls, good food but a bit disappointed that a ride on one of the smaller boats in the market was an extra 200 baht. Did realise that but perhaps I was told when I first booked but couldn't remember. Worth going there though.
fantastic trip!

the people was lovely and provide us many recomendations and additions to the trip. but I felt the floating market visit a little short. I t should last more
Great Guide

Prompt pickup and well organized. Our guide was amazing - funny - taught us a lot about Thailand Customs and language. Very helpful all around.
Floating markets tour
Kelly_S, Aug 2019
Tour was very good. Wasted an entire hour from 6-7am waiting for people who were late or didn’t show up so our time at the market was cut short. Not appreciated — the tour bus manager didn’t manage this well.
Very good
Sandeep_P, Jun 2019
There was a misunderstanding between the hotel and the tour about the start time, the hotel told me that the start time would be 6.30 while the tour was supposed to have picked me up at 6.10, i called the tour guys at 6.45 when i realized what had happened, by which time the tour bus had left, so basically we missed the coconut farm and missed most of our tour at the floating market, the tour guys arranged for another van to drop us off at the floating market. It was great from then on. I only wished we had more time.
Floating Markets Bangkok
JOHN_G, May 2019
Early morning rise for a bus ride to the Market Town. Interesting ride in a long boat but not much room for long legs. there were more stalls along the side of the canal rather than the boats doing their business on the water so a little disappointing. Many of the items here were more expensive than other market areas.
Overall a pleasant experience
Marius_C, Apr 2019
We were a couple and enjoyed the trip. As many reviews say, it is a nice tourist attraction, the whole floating market is for tourists, but you can bring back with you some souvenir, some coconut sugar and have a nice street food meal or desert (like mango or even durian with sticky rice). We had Ken as guide, which gave us some nice information along the way. The paddle boat at the floating market costs extra, 900 Baht, which the guide can book for you in advance. The hotel transfers where well done. For our hotel pick up, the car was there 10 minutes early.
Nice day trip to Damnoen Saduak's floating market.
Global40622600948, Apr 2019
The trip was exactly what we expected, especially because we had already been to this market back in 2007. The English fluency of the guide was a bit limited. However, when he could be understood, he showed good knowledge of what we were visiting. Definitely, worth a visit.
Thailand Floating market
Vacation730884, Apr 2019
It is a must see attraction while you are in Thailand. Expect to spend 1/2 day and some on-the-water shopping and lunching experiences. The coconut juice making is over rated.
Great trip!
Charisse_J, Apr 2019
This was a wonderful tour. I really enjoyed the floating market. Definitely do the paddle boat. It really enhances the experience. Also, don’t buy any souvenirs at the first stop (the rest stop with the coconut sugar). Prices are much better at the floating market - especially when you haggle!
