Floating Markets of Damnoen Saduak Cruise Day Trip from Bangkok

Explore the floating markets of Damnoen Saduak on your day trip from Bangkok

Meet your professional driver and local guide at your Bangkok hotel and travel in air-conditioned comfort to the Damnoen Saduak floating markets. Just two hours southwest of the capital, these famous markets were built by King Rama IV in the 19th century. Your guide will explain how this top attraction promotes trade outside Bangkok city limits and share stories about Thai cultures and traditions as you explore together.

Once you arrive at Damnoen Saduak, you’ll transfer to a long-tailed speedboat for a thrilling ride through marshes lined with stilt houses en route to the markets. Your guide will share information and answer any questions you have about what you're seeing along the way.

Comb through stalls of freshly picked produce, handmade sweets and colorful souvenirs. Witness local traders going about their daily routines and purchase items to take home. You can opt to take a trip on a local boat (additional cost) through a network of canals for an even closer look at these unique markets.

Once you’ve finished at the markets, cruise back to your air-conditioned coach and travel back to your Bangkok hotel to relax after a truly memorable day in rural Thailand.

A great experience and the best way to see and enjoy the market. Accept that you are a tourist for the day and just absorb the vibes. Make sure that you take the gondola option and keep your fingers away from the sides of the boat as you squeeze through the masses!

Great tour and unique experience. My favorite part was the long tailed boat ride and the floating market itself is such a remarkable sight. The drive is a bit long and I do wish we had more time at the Floating Market itself, but otherwise I highly recommend this tour. There are a bunch of shops around the market for purchasing souvenirs can bargain. The fee for riding on the floating market is not included.

Great experience and tour. The feeling you get by being carted around that market in a boat is amazing. Highly recommend the coconut ice cream, which might be the best thing I had in Thailand... which is saying something. If you want to buy souvenirs, wait until you get there and then haggle to your heart's content.

Unforgettable trip! My wife and I had a great day: it took a few hours to travel down, but that was a great opportunity to see the countryside outside the vast swathes of Bangkok: salt farms and paddy fields etc etc. Our guide was very informative.
And the high speed longtail boat ride down the canals to the market was absolutely exhilarating!
I would agree with other reviews that the optional boat tour around the market is also well worth it.
OK - the markets are touristy, and very crowded, and the goods can be got much cheaper elsewhere - but the whole atmosphere, the colours, sounds and smells made it a great trip.
And the early start meant a relatively early finish - I think we were back in the hotel by 2pm, so were able to pack a few more things in to the day or you could ask to be dropped in the city, if you wanted.
Great tour - highly recommended.
