This is my 7th trip to Barbados. I consider it my second home. Customer service is still an issue with me. In addition to sometimes a bad attitude, the time it takes to serve you a simple breakfast at a hotel blows my mind. 1/2 and hour for bacon, eggs and toast???? People want to get to the beach not stay in a restaurant waiting for food. One of my friends waited 1/2 an hour at Chefette for food. This is a fast food restaurant people!!!! Completely unacceptable. In addition, some of the staff had terrible attitudes. They need to realize that they are in the service industry hence you need to smile and be courteous. If you can't do that, get out of the industry!!!!! I would have to imagine that tourism is a big part of the countries industry. Don't anger us!!!! There are other islands that will be more than accommodating and welcome tourists with open arms. I also had stomach issues typical of what I would experienced in Mexico. This is the FIRST time that this has happened. I've heard that they are having problems with there sewage system. Be very careful what you eat and only drink bottled water. All four of us had problems one way or the other if you know what I mean.
On a positive note, one of the tours I went on was the animal flower cave. I was so enamoured with the beauty and the history. After our tour we had lunch at the restaurant. I highly recommend the salt fish cakes....yummy!!! We also went to Tides restaurant which is on the west cost of Barbados. Breathtaking view and incredible food. Highly recommend it. Loved the Tiki bar on the beach to the left of Accra Hotel and Spa. Great food, amazing service and good music. Would definitely go there again.
This is no extravaganza and it is not on the beach. It is in a cheesy, dive type bar with sand brought into the center of the entertainment area with picnic tables in the sand. The show is a local band playing for the first hour or hour and a half, then a pretty good barbadian dancers show, with two men doing gymnastics stunts on stilts. That was the good part, but it only lasted for about 1/2 hour to 45 mins. Then the local band played for the rest of the evening. We couldn't wait to get out of there. And oh, by the way, this venue sets up its own transportation back and forth to the resorts when we were outside waiting for our transport, we were told by one of the dancers, now dressed in her street clothes that Steve, our transport, had an issue and couldn't pick our group up. We were then told to get in separate cars for our transport back. And oh, by the way, our driver had to get gas on the way! We were quite upset and pretty frightened, hoping that this driver was legit and that we would arrive back at our resort safely. Pretty bad! Don't waste your money! The food wasn't even very good, either.
