What To Expect

Your tour starts in Central Barcelona where you'll meet your private guide and set off on a culinary adventure that introduces you to popular goodies and Spanish flavors through eight food tastings and two drinks. 

Head first to a local bar for a bite of churros with chocolate and vermut (vermouth), a current trend. Then enjoy pintxos on a street known for its pintxos bars followed by Catalan pan con tomate and some of the best patatas bravas in town at an old outdoor bar. Next up is a tasting of turron, a simple confection, before enjoying an enseimada sandwich and then a ham tasting at Mercat de Santa Caterina. Last two are traditional Spanish croquettes and a tasting of Spanish wine in the hip Barra de Ferro.

As you go, you'll see sights like the Raval district, enjoy the atmosphere of the city, and listen to insights from your guide about Barcelona's culinary scene.

Fantastic private food tasting tour

Krisztina is a marvelous guide. Her tasting tour was one of the best we have ever taken. She is very knowledgeable, personable, friendly and professional. She showed us great things about food history and culture of food in Barcelona. We would highly recommend this tour with Kriztina. We give her a score of 10/10

Elvira took us on a 3+hr tour around some of the less touristy neighborhoods in the center to show us local history sites and help us learn about customs and of course food. We had a lot of great local cuisine in a few different places and it was all very fresh and different than what we thought of as "tapas" (or the Catalan version). She's got a lot of energy and is extremely friendly--highly recommend!

My daughter started to vomit on the day of at 6:00 am Viator would not give me my money back! I hope they reconsider. I had to go the pharmacy three timeS to get gravol and metclopromide.

The tour was excellent, we tried a variety of food and drink at lots of unique places. Our guide was very knowledgeable and good company. Would really recommend it!

This is a scam. The "food tour" cost 120$ per person and we had to pay for our own food (which we also shared with our tour guide). We had booked this food tour on December 25th for New Year's eve. Shortly after, our tour was confirmed. Then we received a message from our guide if we could modify the tour a little and only go to one restaurant, as it was a busy holiday and visiting 10 different tapas places would be hard to do. We also agreed to do the tour 30 minutes early. When we got to our meeting point, the guide messaged us that she was running late due to traffic. She arrived 30 minutes later. Then we walked around town for about 35-40 minutes and then went to a restaurant where we followed our guide's recommendations on what to order. She had mentioned that the tour company only budgets about 20 EUR per person for food. However, at the restaurant that the guide choose, we could not have gotten 10 tastings each for 20 EUR per person. We ordered 10 tapas and 5 drinks (3 for us, 2 for the guide) and the bill came to 128 EUR. Our guide did not make any motion to pay, so we asked how it worked with the bill. She offered to pay her part, but never offered to pay even at least the budgeted 22 EUR per person. So we paid the bill in full. We paid 240 $ for a food tour and then 128 EUR for the actual food. What a rip off!! On top of that, our guide left after only 2.5 hours, not 3 hours, and did not make up the 30 minutes she was late. When we complained the next day, the company refused to issue us a refund and only came up with lame excuses, such as that the tour was booked too late and it was a Holiday (then why did they not block out the days), and that the cost of the tour is split 3 ways between Viator, the tour company and the guide etc. (why is that our problem?) In short, $240 for a 35-minute walking tour and the "privilege" to invite our tour guide to dinner. What a scam!!!

This was an incredible experience. Krisztina, our guide, was personable and very pleasant. She took us on a tasting experience that we will remember for a long time. We enjoyed churros and chocolate, Iberian ham, tapas, and pinxos. We would definitely recommend this tour!

A forgettable experience

After calling me to reschedule for a few days later, I took the opportunity to tell the tour guide that my partner is vegan. On the day of the actual tour, the guide was late and I had to send her a message to see if she was coming. She told me she was running late and asked to meet somewhere else. We started the tour with sweets which I thought was odd and instead of trying 2 local delicacies we only got to try one because the other was not plant-based. We followed that by going to the Market which was very nice and then went to a restaurant for some Tapas. She wasn't sure what to order because of the vegan issue so we ended up getting less dishes again, which were underwhelming to say the least. The next stop was another place for snacks and wine but we skipped it and called it a day. In general, the quality of the food we tried was not good. We didn't try anywhere near 10 things and the guide did not eat so it all felt a bit awkward. As this was my first time in Barcelona, I wanted to get an idea of the food early in the trip so planned it on our 2nd day. We were asked to reschedule to the 2nd last day and by that time I had already tried most of the things in the tour so I feel I didn't really get my money's worth. I don't know, maybe it was the fact that I had an assortment of cold meats and cheeses after half a dozen churros and I was running up and down the streets of Barcelona.

Lusi was a wonderful tour guide with a wonderful personality who showed us around and introduced us to the foods of Barcelona with a lot of history included. The only downside is we were expecting to try foods in the Boqueria and we did not- I think maybe that was because it was so crowded when we were there but a disappointment still.
