What You Can Expect

Barcelona Shore Excursion with Montserrat Tour and Skip-the-Line Park Güell

Barcelona Shore Excursion: Small-Group Tour of Barcelona and Montserrat

Disembark your cruise ship at Barcelona port or receive hotel pickup before climbing aboard an air-conditioned minivan to ascend the incline of Montjuic Hill. Visit impressive monuments like the Olympic Ring, and capture fabulous photographs beside Montjuic Castle, a stolid structure that gazes solemnly over the city.

Then, admire Antoni Gaudi’s modernist masterpiece with a visit to La Sagrada Familia, an extraordinary example of ecclesiastical extravagance, before stopping by Casa Batllo. Stroll down the sophisticated shopping strip of Passeig de Gracia, and  then ascend to the vertiginous vantage point of Park Grüell, a vast outdoor space considered one of the world’s most impressive. See richly decorated sculptures and famous features such as the dragon staircase before your next destination.

Next, escape the crowds of Barcelona to explore the natural splendor of Montserrat, a rugged mountain declared Spain’s first national park. Absorb the spectacular scenery as you guide offers insight into the area’s history, and then visit the beautiful Montserrat Monastery. Understand why thousands of Christian pilgrims make the arduous journey to the structure each year as you engage in the captivating commentary of a guided tour.

Climb back aboard your minivan and return to Barcelona’s port (or your hotel) well in advance of your cruise ship’s departure.

I could spend the whole day at Montserrat alone! The museum is a hidden wonder. A little bit rushed in Barcelona but was able to do other day trips myself. Very informative. Getting to Montserrat early was a very good idea when you see the traffic trying to get up the hill on your way back down. Loved it

What a wonderful tour! Martha was very knowledgeable and she really gave us a good idea of local culture and history. She took us to the best places at the right time to avoid big crowds. She talked all the time and I learned a lot! Great pace and a lot of fun! Highly recommend this tour and guide!

This was one of our favorite tours. Marta was an excellent guide. The sites were all amazing in their own ways and to have them all in one day was pretty special. The tram ride up to the top of Montserrat was worth the wait/cost. Park Guell was so different from anything else on the tour and was a welcome break from the older architecture we had seen so much of during our time on the cruise. We got to Montserrat before the crowds of the day which gave us space to admire all the beauty.

Our guide, Marta, seemed to have an outstanding knowledge of Barcelona lifestyles and history, which she made come alive. The Monserrat tour was great, just not enough time to really see anything in much depth. The Skip-the-Line Park Guell entry was really a bonus to allow us more time there. This was a great overview of the city and perfect if you are there only a day or two.

Marta, our guide, was exceptionally knowledgeable and thorough. She was able to answer our questions and also provide an insight into everyday life like why they eat supper at 10pm. We were promptly picked up from our ship the small group size 11 made the tour easy. We were only in Barcelona two days, and wanted to see as much as possible this was a great way to see a lot in a day!
