The trip I took on the monserrat tour with cogwheel train ride was really excellent, even though it was very cold it was a sunny afternoon and we had no problems enjoying the wonderful panoramas and the scenary. The guide was knowledgable and we had plenty of time to visit all there was to see.I thought it was a well structured trip, worth the fee.
Excellent half-day trip! Montserrat is just an hour outside of Barcelona, and the approach to the mountains is beautiful. I recommend the afternoon trip because the late afternoon light is beautiful on the mountains. A must-see if you visit Barcelona.

My wife went on this tour while I was working and she had an absolutely marvelous time!
Beautiful place and the coach was really comfortable heading up there.
Well worth the money. The view is absolutely spectacular! We lined up for a short time to see the black madonna. The bus trip took about an hour from the centre of Barcelona. Would recommend.
It was wonderful. Breathtaking view and very educational experience. Highlighted my trip to spain.
Amazing tour. This is a very nice option if you do not have a full day to do this. If you however have enough time I would suggest spending more time there.
Very good tour, easy and relaxing way to visit outside Barcelona and learn about the area.
Even with a light misty rain, it was a most incredible experience.
Fabulous tour, half day is great, church and monastery were really interesting and our guide was great. Bus trip down the mountain was very scary for me as I don't do heights very well. Cog wheel train up was fun and would have preferred to come down that way.
Beautiful place! Tour was great. No problems at all, and tour guide was very informative!
Thoroughly enjoyed this trip, it was an amazing experience. Our guide got us safely to and from our destination, gave us the information we needed and then allowed us time to enjoy this beautiful place at our leisure.
We would totally recommend this excursion. If you're in Barcelona, a trip to Monserrat is a must! This tour in particular was wonderful because the guide did a great job explaining things and taking us to different landmarks, but we also were given the opportunity to explore on our own. The free liquor tasting was also wonderful.
A must see for nature lovers, spiritual seekers and those who love architecture, all high in the mountains with spectacular views.
Our first time in a Cog-wheeled train. Riding it, we felt like kids. Our guide was cheerful and informative in spite of the pouring rain. You will feel like you are at one with nature. Even the air smells and tastes sweet, high up in the Montserrat Mountains. The views looking down into the valley below and the unimaginable rock formations formed over millions of years above, are breathtaking.
The silence leading up to the intimately self-contained sanctuary of The Black Madonna was sobering and spiritually uplifting as we walked past the Romanesque carving of Mary and Baby Jesus dating to the late 12th century. Your mind wanders to the pilgrims of past who flocked to see her over the centuries. You are left marveling at the devotion of those past craftsmen who built Montserrats monastery. A historical masterpiece celebrating a thousand years of its foundation as a monastery in 2025.
I thoroughly enjoyed this trip. The travel office was easy enough to find. Our tour guide Joanna was very knowledgeable and we had about an hour of free time which was long enough to look around the monestry and shops.
A must see destination. The cog wheel ride is amazing, great views. The monastery itself is beautiful. One tip, if you want to take the ride to the peak form the monastery, then make sure you do it before you do the other areas of the monastery as you will run short of time. The line to see the idol of Mother Mary, takes quite a bit of time, as they are sent in batches, so plan accordingly.
Excellent tour! The tour also allowed us to see parts of Barcelona going and coming back from Montserrat. But the trip to Montserrat was spectacular and so fun. GO!!!
If you plan to be in Barcelona a few days, Monserrat is definitely worth the trip! We were a group of ten and we enjoyed the nice ride up the mountain to this very unique landscape. The basilica itself was breathtaking. Enjoy!
Beautiful area. The guide was very knowledgable about the history of the region and the monastery itself.. It was a great trip.
Great experience tour guide very informative . Would do it again with viator
