This is a little hidden gem in Barcelona. The history was interesting and underground tunnels provided more insight into this old hospital. There is a short video that you can watch upon entering that provided some history. Realizing some of the medical accomplishments achieved here was truly amazing. If you have free time while in Barcelona, don't miss out on this gem.

What a neat place...the buildings and the town that the hospital created were the art

Wow, this was such an unexpected beautiful place! is just a few minutes away from Sagrada Familia, and it is like a mini oasis in the middle of Barcelona! The architecture is stunning (crazy to think it was a hospital until a few years ago) and the courtyard is filled with trees and plants, which make you feel like you are visiting and relaxing in the countryside. I found the entrance fee very affordable, especially as you can take as much time as you want inside building, relaxing and exploring. I'll go back when I travel to Barcelona next :)

3 star rating: Worth doing March 2017

It was a beautiful and stunning building, however I had a hard time navigating and felt very overwhelmed. There were some places that did not have any direction signs so I didn't know where to go and there were no employees to help guide people. I ran into maybe 4 other tourists there looking around which was nice that it wasn't crowded. The outside yard is spectacular and the buildings, rooms, and ceilings were beautiful. The outdoor yard is huge and there are several building and some of them are closed off, others are open with exhibits inside. Some of them I found rather uninteresting. I would have enjoyed it more if I had a guided tour.. would I recommend this place as a must see in Barcelona? No, unless you are extremely interested in architecture and or medical history of Barcelona.

2 star rating: It was OK, but could have been better June 2017

There was a fashion show event on the day we went and only 2 buildings were open. Unfortunately we were not informed ahead of time to avoid the disappointment. Other than that, the site is absolutely beautiful. Just wish we could see the whole thing.
