Itinerary
Stop At:
Casa Batllo
Explore the restoration at Casa Batlló in Barcelona with your admission ticket — also available on mobile — and head inside to explore this fascinating museum at your leisure. A smart guide in included with your entrance ticket, so put your headphones on and then set off to explore. The museum is laid out into five distinct areas, and your video commentary will guide you around each one, highlighting the points of interest that lie in every nook and cranny. Take in the Noble Floor, where the Batlló family once lived, and learn about their lives in Barcelona. A forward-thinking entrepreneur, Josep Batlló wanted a new family home that was totally different to anything else in the city; he commissioned Gaudi to create a daring design, and let’s just say, the outcome was far from disappointing. Visit the loft, which acted as the family’s vast store cupboard and laundry room, and step out onto the roof terrace to see Gaudi’s mythical-looking chimneys and the famous ‘Dragon’s Back’ – a model that depicts the fabled dragon that was said to have been slain by St George. Wander down the communal staircase, admiring the translucent windows and ergonomic design of the banisters, skylights and even door handles – all of which beautifully illustrate Gaudi’s meticulous attention to detail. Your video tour finishes inside the magnificent entrance hall, popular for its grand wooden staircase that was built to look like the spine of a giant beast. Gaze upward to marvel at the skylights shaped like tortoise shells, and envisage yourself in an underground cave; many believe this to be Gaudi’s inspiration for the room. After your tour finishes, you can stay longer in Casa Batlló, admiring the visual treats at your own pace.

Casa Batllo - must go inside!

Don't just walk by the incredible Casa Batllo - go inside. Every room on every floor is worth seeing. The audio description was good. Although it is a popular place, and therefore, a bit crowded, it was spacious enough to move around in the time we allotted to the house. Antonio Gaudi was a genius!

Definitely recommend the Gold Priority: saw everything in our own time. Go as early as you can as the rooms can get a little crowded.

We spent around an hour visiting Casa Batllo. We purchased the tickets on Viator the day before and on the day I showed the guy at the entrance the tickets on my phone and we were in! The queue outside was quite long if we had to purchase tickets on the day, so I'm glad I was able to plan this visit in advance.

Perfect. Arrived slightly early and were given immediate access perhaps due to it being fairly quiet. The house is inspirational and the audio guide with added AR (augmented reality) on the handset screen bring the whole thing to life in vivid fashion. It’s like entering another world.

Architectural wonder

If you enjoy Gaudi or are interested in architecture, this is for you. Buying tickets ahead was a good idea since a timed entrance is available. There are multiple floors, so be prepared to climb, but the staircases are part of the show. An elevator is available. There are great views from the roof. We bought the family photo.
