What To Expect

Meet your guide in central Barcelona and relax during the scenic journey to Montserrat.

Travel first to the Montserrat Monastery, located just outside central Barcelona. Montserrat is considered to be the cornerstone of Catalan culture, history, nature, and spirituality. Learn more about the area from your guide as you tour the atrium and the Basilica, inside of which sits the "Black Madonna." You also see the 15th-century cloister and Santa Maria square.

Continue to Oller de Mas, a 10th-century castle now home to a successful winery. Walk through the vineyards alongside your guide, and then tour the barrel room and production area to discover more about manufacturing methods. 

At the end of the tour, sample fine Spanish wines, complemented by a selection of tapas with dessert. As you taste, your tour guide reveals the secrets behind the wine.

After a relaxing day of wine and sightseeing, return to Barcelona in the afternoon.

  • Tour starts at 8:45 a.m. Please arrive at the meeting point 20 min before the start of the tour
  • There is a limit of 20 people per guide, although transportation will be shared with other groups.
  • Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended as there is some walking involved.
  • Temperatures in Montserrat and the winery tend to be more extreme than in Barcelona. Please check the weather forecast the day before and dress accordingly. We advise bringing water, especially in the summer season. 
  • Infants aged 3 or less may join the tour free of charge, but note that no car seat or meals are provided.
  • If you have reduced mobility, please contact us before booking. We do our best to welcome everyone on board!
  • We cater for any dietary allergies or restrictions – no need to warn us beforehand.
  • Montserrat is a Natural Park a very highlighted cultural destination that can't be entirely explored in a single tour. Your experience includes some free time in Montserrat. If you would like to spend extra time in Montserrat, please check with your guide upon arrival.
  • We work daily with different low-production, family-owned boutique wineries. Due to logistic reasons, you might visit another cellar instead of Oller del Mas.

The tour was great! But one thing that was not comfortable We were left with just 1 hour to be by ourself inside of Monrserrat , not enough time!!!! We wanted to go up to the hill to the big cross , but did not make it!!!because of shortages of time!! Otherwise our Tour Guide Anays was excellent!! She was very knowledgeable, Fun girl to travel with!!, very intelligent and helpful!! We would recommend Anays any time!!!!

Absolutely breathtaking. Seeing this area should be a must for anyone visiting Barcelona. I would highly recommend this tour. Even though it is a decent size group bus tour, you are divided into smaller groups. Our guide Marcel was excellent. He was full of information and is obviously very passionate about Barcelona and Montserrat. The winery in the afternoon was delicious and a great way to top off a wonderful day. Marcel continued being awesome with his great understanding of the wines and the winery we were at. Highly recommend

We had the best trip with our amazing host Marok. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, fun, and friendly throughout this tour. He had great insight and storytelling upon our visit to each site. We loved getting to see the Basilica, the views from the mountains, and of course the wine and tappas at the winery! I would HIGHLY recommend this trip to anyone visiting the Barcelona! It was definitely a highlight of our long weekend. Me and husband felt we got to do, see, and drink so much for the price this was! Not mention the amount free-time to explore on our own was fantastic. Don't miss out on this tour! Thanks again to Marok for making such a fun day!
Unique experience of history, religion, and breathtaking views

Highly recommended! There were 3 tour guides on the bus and I was in a group with Fran who was super knowledgeable. Montserrat is gorgeous, with impressive architecture and lots of history, religion, and breathtaking views. I could have easily spent more days exploring everything. The winery we went to after, Oller del Mas, was equally impressive and the tapas and wine were good.

It started out very disappointing. We were on an old dirty bus that was full of 65 people and several of the chairs, including the one. My husband was in the was broken about an hour later we arrived at Monsarrat from then on it became a beautiful experience. We broke into our smaller group and we had a decent bus coming back. They need to retire that old bus or do something different. sitting in a broken chair for that long on the bus is outrageous and disappointing.

Montserrat is a beautiful site to behold. The basilica is beautiful and the property is easy to navigate. Our tour guide, Guille, was pleasant, knowledgeable, lively, and very accommodating. She provided much information about the basilica and was very helpful. The wine tasting tour was very pleasant.

Our tour started with the most amazing, knowledgeable, personable guide, Anays. She shared so much history that really brought Barcelona to life. Montserrat was beautiful and the views were breathtaking. The winery and its history was worth the trip, not to mention the wine itself was delicious. What a great day with Toni, our tour guide! Started on time, the bus ride was about an hour and we were informed and entertained the whole way, learned about Spain’s history, what to look for when we got there, etc. He then took us into the basilica so we could see everything, then about an hour of free time, he pointed out several things to pay attention to as well…then, off to the winery, had tapas, tasted 3 different wines with our tapas, then about 40 minutes to get a full glass ( or two) before heading back. It was a really great experience all around!

Fantastic day. Anays our guide was wonderful. She knew so much about the history of the area and is studying to being a winemaker - she has so much passion for what she does and a sense of humour. The day was cloudy and rainy but we enjoyed it so much.

Dan and Gus were fantastic tour guides and the amount of time we were at each location was great. It stated it was a half day tour leaving at 8:45 but lasted pretty much all day returning around 4:00pm. would have been a problem if we had other activities reserved later in the day

Gustavo was our guide. He gave an excellent narration of the journey and we would enjoy touring with him again. We started at Monserrat and gave us a tour, described the various places to go, and sent us on our own. However he took us and another family to light a candle. So much do there—we’re going back. The wine and tapas was organized perfectly

An odd tour

This trip was strangely organized. The first part was travel, which was predictable given that you have to get there but then the next 45 mins was a tour of the buildings in Montserrat, eg here is the cafe, this is the bathrooms, there is the funicular. Very little value add over a map. Then we had an hour and a half of free time to wander the buildings we were just shown. Finally we were taken to the church and had a colossal 12 minutes to go round it. Then on to the bus to the winery. Surprisingly it was the tour guides who explained the winery and led the wine tasting rather than winery employees, which meant that they didn't always have the answer to questions. The tapas came with the wine tasting and I think was designed primarily to stop the wine going to our heads as we had not eaten since we left Barcelona. Again some more free time to quickly try some other wines and then back on the bus back to the city. It felt like there was very little time on the tour and most of the time we either in transit or being left with little guidance. Maybe the problem was that the church was not open for most of the time we were there due to services but in which case this wouldn’t have been a surprise so don’t do the tour at that time. It just felt rather disorganized.
