Meet your guide and small group of up to 15 people in central Barcelona in time for a 10am or 3pm departure (depending on tour option selected). Start the tour with a visit to Els Quatre Gats, the legendary café where artists and architects such as Gaudì and Picasso were once regulars, where your guide will give you some background information about the city’s architecture and modernist movement.
Continue along the famous Passeig de Gràcia, one of Barcelona’s most important shopping boulevards, which is home to some of the city’s most impressive modernist buildings. Along the way, stop to admire the striking El Nacional restaurant and head inside to sample some typical Catalan snacks, then indulge in handmade chocolates at Chocolateria Amattler, and tuck into some tasty tapas or street food at other local haunts.
Keep your camera to hand as you pass some of Gaudi’s most exquisite architectural works, including Casa Calvet, Casa Milà, and Casa Batlló, and listen as your guide points out notable buildings by architects such as Puig i Cadafalch and Domènch i Montaner.
After taking in the highlights of downtown Barcelona, hop in a taxi for the short ride to La Sagrada Familia – Gaudi’s magnum opus and one of the world’s most famous cathedrals. Accompanied by your guide, learn more about the magnificent cathedral, admire its unique façade, and hear how its design is so complex it won’t be finished until 2026!
Your tour ends outside La Sagrada Familia – tour upgrades are also available for those who wish to explore inside the cathedral.
