Why Travelers Choose This Tour
Tickets sell out days in advance, so it pays to book ahead. Not only do you skip the long lines but guarantee yourself a more intimate look at Gaudi's masterpiece right before it opens to the public.
Make your way to La Sagrada Familia, one of Barcelona's best-known landmarks, to meet your guide and tour group. Get there just before 9am, when the popular site is open to the general public. Avoid long lines and be one of the first groups allowed inside.
Before entry, marvel at the ornate exterior of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring sharp, soaring spires and incredible architectural detail.
Follow your guide inside for a tour of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí's masterwork. Look up for dizzying views of 230-foot (70-meter) vaults, colorful stained glass windows and soaring ceilings. Walk down the five aisles in the shape of a Latin cross while listening to your guide's commentary about Gaudí's architectural philosophy and inspiration. Learn about the reason for the church's unfinished state; construction begun in 1882 and was only a quarter complete when it halted in 1926.
Opt to upgrade your experience with exclusive, 30-minute access to the Tower on the Passion façade, where you will have a panoramic views of the city from a height of 215 feet (65 meters). Please note that access to the tower requires a climb of roughly 400 steps.
Following your tour, you are free to explore the site further on your own.

We had a wonderful early access tour of Sagrada Familia with ooh la la, Mama Mia tour guide - knowledgeable and very entertaining. This was my third time in the Cathedral and I learn something new every time! Aida I believe was her name....
The tour was great. I thought I was getting tower access however I learned I did not have that included so the title of the attraction was a bit misleading. Over all I was fascinating to see the progress since my last visit in 2007.
Having visited La Sagrada Familia before, I knew what to expect. My tour was a bit slow, repetitive, and dry. There's nothing on the tour you can't read in the museum at the cathedral or read online in advance. Also, I'll be honest - I'm a little bitter about this tour because we weren't able to go up to the towers. They were closed due to "inclement weather." We did get refunded promptly from Viator (which is one of the many reasons I love booking tours here), but still. The towers can be closed for any reason at any time.
While our guide was great and knowledgeable do not think that early access means there were be fewer people there. The place was packed! That being said the Sagrada Familia is a wonderful sight to see.
Do not take this tour. This tour was to supposed to be early access before it opened to the public. The tour guide arrived after it opened and after people called her office. The tour guide was more than 25 minutes late. She had no tickets then had to go get them, then had to call her office multiple times to get the count again and again. We ended up walking into the church 45 minutes after it opened. We did NOT get early access which is why we booked this in the first place. We couldn't stay for the tower access which we also paid for since she was so late. She didn't stay for it ether, just shuffled people to the elevator and left. The tour was not 2.5 hours. After 6 great Viator tours in Italy last year and 2 in Athens this year, we are extremely disappointed in this tour. This tour is not Viator caliber or quality.
I specifically booked this tour for early access and “unobstructed” views. It was my understanding that the tour was to begin at 8:50 allowing for ten minutes of early access. Our guide Susanna was very disorganized. She started a few minutes late, and did not even approach the gates to see about getting us in until 9:06. She was there for over ten minutes on her cell phone because she had not properly arranged for our visit. It was 9:20 by the time we got to security, and 9:30 by the time we were done. Then, instead of getting us inside quickly, she made us wait at a scaled model by the entrance for another 20 minutes. It was 9:50 when we finally entered the church, which was well packed with people. It would have been easier and cheaper to have just been in line early to get in at 9. Her tour had some interesting points but was mostly haphazard with iPad viewings of Star Wars characters.
Sadly, the Elevator to the tower was broken that day, which was not Susanna’s fault, so we could not enter. She said that she would immediately issue a refund for this but I have not received any updates or notifications about a refund. This has the potential to be a great tour, but the day I went was not one. Very, very disappointed.
I have nothing bad to say. We met our guide just outside of the Sagrada Familia and she was just fabulous. She got us in quickly and started the tour with enthusiasm. She was very passionate which made the tour even better. We also got the tower access which was done on our own, that gave us great views of the city below. It was all worth it.
Viator is a middleman. If you arrive late for this tour your out of luck and out of your money. Just book the tour with someone else when you get there. It will be explained where to meet and what to do a little better.
I have done quite a few of these tours on my current trip and this one was my favorite. Our guide, Sara, was fantastic. She had a great Catalan accent and personality and made the time very enjoyable. She also knew how to allow us our free time and share information about the site. Time well spent and such an amazing church. I had been 12 years previously but so much has been completed since then it is almost like a new place to me.
