Seas were a little rough to go out into the ocean, but there was plenty to see in the area we covered in 2 hours. Pulled into a cave thrilling while in the boat. Fast cruiser held about 20-30 passengers up to about 30-34 mph. Not too much rocking for such a trip, i'm pleased to add. Stopped at an island beach for 20-30 minutes but even in summer the waters were too chilly for me or others. Great way to get up close to the islands in the bay.
Fantastic tour. Entire team was friendly and went out of their way to ensure we made it back to our cruise ship in time for departure. Thanks guys, highly recommended!
This was a WONDERFUL tour. Not only is the scenery beautiful, but our skipper was awesome and so was our guide.
THE TRIP WAS EXCELLENT AND THE COMMENTRY FROM BOTH GUIDES WAS INFORMATIVE AND RELEVANT TO WHAT WE WERE SEEING. THE HEALTH AND SAFETY WAS WELL ORGANISED AND WE HAD A VERY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE
The weather on the day made this tour all the more enjoyable...the boat and staff were outstanding with a great itinerary, cliffs, cave and beach landing for a swim or a walk up a peak for spectacular scenery. The crew were formative, casual, respectful and friendly...always a good recipe for a great day out.
Beautiful Scenery in a modern boat - excellent commentary. Very happy.

We really enjoyed this tour.
My neice and I chose this as a independent shore tour on a cruise ship visit for about one third the cost of anything on offer from the ship.
The fast boat was fun might be a bit rock n roll in rough weather and the bays, islands, and rocks were visually stunning..... Only the one cave visit, but the two hours covered a good section of the area.
We enjoyed glimpses of Russell while picking up and dropping of passengers you could take regular ferry to Russell before joining.
A highlight was the visit to Motuarohia island where Captain Cook went ashore and scaled the peak you can too if energetic ..... We chose a quick swim in the gorgeous lagoon.
My only regret is I wish the tour went a little longer to allow more time on Motuarohia
Remember if doing this as a cruise ship shore tour alternative .... It is a Tender Port which makes the early tour8.30am and the afternoon tour 2pm impossible due to the time needed for the tender process. We did the 11am tour.... This allowed time to get an early tender, walk from Waitangi to Paihia shuttles are available , have a look around before the tour.
We had a fabulous weather day.... And of course that turns beautiful into spectacular.
Our tour was rescheduled by the operator, to 2pm. So on the day we re-booked back to an 8am cruise by the same operator (dolphin watching + hole in rock). This was better as it rained later in the day. It also gave us much more time to get back to the ship. My wife and child were seasick, so beware.
So, somehow we bought tickets for the wrong day. The lady helping us offered a longer trip for the same price. I suspect that we would have enjoyed the 2 hour trip more, but we saw pretty much the whole harbour, plus dolphins 2 species and the Hole in the Rock.
The half day tour is only 3 hours and even on a clear day, we couldn't go inside the cave. That said, the bay is beautiful and you need a boat to seen even half of it. Worth it.
