What You Can Expect

Beijing Full-Day Tour: Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and Summer Palace

Forbidden City

After pickup from your central Beijing hotel, set off through the city’s bustling streets by climate-controlled coach. On route, hear about Beijing’s history, and listen as your guide shares information about China’s culture.

Stop first at the Forbidden City, near Tiananmen Square. The world’s largest historical palatial complex, this massive walled compound dates from the 15th century, and was home to 14 Ming and 10 Qin emperors. Tour the main pavilions, halls and courtyards — the complex houses 800 buildings — and admire the classical Chinese architecture as your guide shares tales of the royals who lived and ruled from here.

Next, continue to the Temple of Heaven, a beautiful imperial spiritual complex built 600 years ago. Admire the religious buildings and see the magnificent Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, where the emperors prayed for fruitful harvests.

After a set-menu Chinese lunch at a restaurant, travel to the Summer Palace. Created in 1750 as an imperial summertime retreat, this masterpiece of Chinese landscaping blends intricate pavilions, halls, bridges, lakes and rivers.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll to admire the ornamental gardens, buildings, and other architectural gems, and then finish your tour with a central hotel drop-off.

5 star rating: Highly Recommended November 2015

This was by far the best tour I have ever been on and that says a lot because I have traveled on 5 continents.
The guide Roy was unbelievable. We were 8 people that really got along from 4 different countries. He was so accommodating that he managed to work in an extra stop at the Olympic Stadium which was missed on the tour from hell that it was supposed to be on so I was really happy. Everything was to perfection. If I went back to Beijing I would request this tour company to take a tour with. So professional and I can't say enough good things about them.

1 star rating: I do not recommend this March 2016

the guide tour operator was 1 hour late. although he is a nice person, his English was poor, therefore very difficult to understand him.
tried to contact viator for confirmation the day before our trip but without success.
awful experience. I would strongly recommend you do not use viator, they are very unprofessional. it is just waste of money.
