I cannot say enough how much our guide, Cactus, made us feel welcome on our first day in China. Overall review is that we tried a lot of local foods, received great commentary and history from Cactus and it left us with a wonderful impression of China on our first day. Breakdown of the tour:
-She met us promptly at our hotel lobby, and due to high traffic we decided to learn how to use the train system instead to get to our destination. So glad we did and she taught us a lot!
-The. Food. Was. Awesome. Some was not...but you gotta try everything right?
-At each specific location she would talk about the region, history, and what makes the food popular in that area.
-Tour of a local Hutong alley with great historical information and wonderful local feel
-She took pictures. Which is great when you are focused on stuffing your face and forget to take your own.
-Helped us to secure transportation home.
-Highly recommended and you are very lucky if you meet with Cactus!
Cactus was a wonderful tour guide. She was knowledgeable, spoke very good english, friendly, and fun. The tour lasted about 4 hours. It consisted of trying various types of chinese delicacies. We definitely were full by the end of the tour. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Beijing.
Food sampling was great. It really gave me a sense of the local food and what I liked. Miko was an excellent and patient guide, very knowledgeable. It was a lot of food and fun. I would definitely recommend this tour.
We had a fantastic time on our tour with Qing. Not only was the food delicious or at least adventurous... but her historical knowledge, wit, and cultural insights were wonderful too. Can't recommend it highly enough!
Our group of three adults and two 12 year-old children has a great time on this tour, and our tour guide, Bella, was awesome. We had a great mix of safe and unusual Chinese food, and there was plenty to go around. I wouldn't consider any of us foodies or overly adventurous eaters, but we still ate everything that was presented to us and all left with our stomachs full. Bella definitely catered the tour for us, always asking if we were interested in trying something before ordering us the food of course, we always said yes - what's the point of this tour otherwise?. In addition to the tour, we also learned about the Hutong and it's residences. If you want to experience how and where the locals eat in a safe and untimidating setting, this is the tour. Thanks again, Bella!
Becky was fantastic! I loved the experience of going to a random door that is very unassuming and finding a delicious restaurant we would have never found otherwise. I tried Donkey Fire when I was there and it was a real treat. She did a great job catering to both my boyfriend and my taste which is a hard thing to do.
Highly recommend this food tour - We had a great time and our guide was fantastic and provided alot of information about the food and ingredients we where eating. Go on this tour if you want to eat where the locals eat and learn about the dishes at the same time! Great tour

I strongly recommend this food tour. We sample to many dished I lost count. From savory to sweet we tried it all. Our guide Roy I hope I remembered his name correctly was super nice and his English was good. We went to local spots to try authentic Chinese food. You have to come hungry because there is so much food!
It was a small tour with just 3 of us but had a good time trying all the different foods a bit further out Dongsi Station from the middle Tianamen. Tried a bunch of soups, noodles, dumplings, and local delicacies! One of our favorite tours in Beijing for sure.
Cool way to get to know some of the local food in Beijing, which can be sometimes hard to taste on your own if you don't speak the language or don't have many days to explore. Our guide Roy was very nice and made the experience very enjoyable with his knowledge of Chinese food from all over the country. Prepare to eat a lot, so it's best to skip breakfast or lunch. Also a good idea to pace yourself in the first stops, just so you get through all the many dishes and not feel sick and full as the activity ends.
