We're so glad that we chose to do this tour. It was a wonderful insight into life in Beijing. Our tour guide, Eva, was so friendly and helpful and the family that we visited were very gracious hosts. Not to mention, the food they served for lunch was delicious.
My tour Guide Tony was very helpful and knowledgeable, he was also very friendly. Great tour, I especially enjoyed doing caligraphy with the local family and their little girl is beautiful. Thanl you to the family for hosting me.
We enjoyed the Hutoon Rickshaw ride and dumpling tour in Beijing. We appreciated the ability to confirm the tour by e-mail and the immediate response that our confirmation was received. Our tour guide, Annie, contacted us the night before to confirm the time and place to meet. The tour was wonderful and Annie helped a lot by her knowledge and lively conversation about the area. We appreciated the lunch. In addiiton, Annie was very helpful in being aware of my wife's dietary and walking problems and we really appreciate it. Just wanted to let you know we had a good tour and appreciated Annie's knowledge and helpfulness! R and A
hi there, just to let you know that the tour guides were great and we would use your company again.
We wish to advise that we all really enjoyed our tour today with your representative Emma. Emma was good at understanding and speaking English and we were able to ask her a lot of questions about china history which she knew well. She is very polite and caring and ensured our safety all the time. The richshaw driver was also so very kind. The meal in the family home was beautiful and how special it was to be welcomed by the family. We highly recommend the tour to any western travellers thoroughly enjoyable.

I want to say we very much enjoyed out tour today with Daniel. The visit to the drum tower for drum beating at 9:30 was perfect. I have a poor heart and Daniel made sure I safely walked up. Thank you. Very much enjoyed visit with Mr. and Mrs. Liu for lunch. Please extend special thankyou to Daniel for his kind attention and service.
I would recommend this tour for an honest view of life in the Hutongs of Beijing. The tour is well planned, and takes place at a relaxed pace. The range of activities within the tour allows for a sampling of many aspects of Chinese culture. Links with local people are good, allowing for local interactions.
I really enjoyed this although I did think it was quite expensive. The visit up the drum tower was worth the climb.
The Chinese writing was good fun but the dumpling making was a bit disappointing, it was very rushed. On the plus side the lunch was excellent.

Enjoy the tour very much and was a highlight of my stay in Beijing. Tour guide was fantastic! Meet me on time at my hotel, spoke very good English, professional and informative on the area. Tour guide had patience while we climbed the Drum Tower stairs and for this tourist taking lots of photos. Loved the visit to a home with doing Chinese crafts and enjoying lunch. Would highly recommend this tour in Beijing!
It was a very good tour. Howard was so nice with us and with the chidren. The family where we were received for the lunch, dumpling was so friendly.
Picked up on time
Itinerary well arranged
Informative guide in the beginning
A quilt on rickshaw protected from winter wind
Asked 15 RMB for rickshaw tip
Tea ceremony = sales product presentation
Persuaded hard to buy tea
Guide busy w/ his gadget, guessing for myself
Note from Viator: This review is based on a previous itinerary. The tea ceremony is no longer included on this tour.
This tour is completely misrepresented. The Hutongs we 'toured' were not the nice/cool ones that Beijing has to offer. Instead, they were the boring/dirty ones. We did get to see a drum performance, which was very beautiful, though and went to a tea ceremony this was not a real tea ceremony - it was geared toward western tourists and the saleslady was mighty unpleasant once we said we did not intend on buying any tea there - you can find it for a tenth of the price in a real Chinese market or tea shop. Furthermore, this was NOT a Dumpling-making tour! We spent about four minutes making five dumplings after having been met with a cold welcome in a family home. Lunch was decent but we thought we would have mainly dumplings to eat! We also did some basic calligraphy, which was interesting but we were hoping for more of a Dumpling and Rickshaw tour as was promised. Our guide was friendly but could work on her English. Also, our driver, Storm, tried to sell us more tours and was clearly looking for a tip after having driven us for 15 minutes. The last thing I want early in the morning is someone trying to up-sell me. To add, the Rickshaw ride is NOT included in this tour! For the price one pays for this tour, clients should not be asked to pay for the rickshaw ride when it's done! Absolutely ridiculous! I would suggest forgoing this tour completely and, instead, visiting the Hutongs around the Llama temple metro stop and then visit an authentic dumpling restaurant try to find one where no one speaks English - it's more fun that way!.
