The best way to experience the great wall and summer palace all because of Albert and our driver Mr.Sun. This was a fantastic experience beginning to end. Albert was full of knowledge about the history of China and truly helped us appreciate thousands of years of history and culture. We were able to toboggan down the great wall and I must say it is the way to do it. I had reservations about it but my girlfriend convinced me to try it and it was so neat. The summer palace is full of photo ops and the history there is so great.
Fantastic tour - Our guide Albert was awesome and very friendly and full of information. The local restaurant for lunch was very delicious. Highly recommend this tour!
Our trip to The Great Wall was excellent. Our guide Cactus was knowledgeable, charming and fun. She and our driver did everything possible to make our experience memorable. I would strongly recommend using this your company again.
Our guide named Roy was excellent and provided great information on China's history and culture. He knew how to navigate the area around the Great Wall to avoid lines. He was flexible and went with our group's schedule. Lunch at a local restaurant was delicious and waiting for us when we arrived as our guide called ahead. Summer Palace was interesting. It was November so the trees and flowers weren't blooming so it must be even better in the warm weather but still worth the trip.
This was my first Viator tour and first private tour as well. This tour was fantastic and my tour guide Jimmy was awesome! Jimmy and the driver picked me up at the hotel and we spent the day exploring the Great Wall and the Summer Palace. Jimmy was extremely knowledgeable about everything and was a lot of fun to interact with! I learned a ton of history about each of the sites and could not have been happier with the entire experience. Highly recommended!
I had a wonderful day together with the knowledgeable May guide. The time on the wall was amazing. Very history about the construction of this long wall. After a wonderful lunch at a local restuarant it took off to the Summer Palace where May gave me even more insight into the historical part. An excellent guide as I hope more will have a wonderful day with.
Great tour. A chance to see the Great Wall with fewer crowds than Badaling. Also, the private tour is a much more pleasant way to do it, without any mandatory stops for shopping.
I'm so glad we booked this All-Inclusive tour! Our guide, Bella, and driver, Wangshen sp?. were both so engaging and nice. We didn't have to worry about buying our tickets to the Great Wall, chair lift, toboggan, lunch or Summer Palace. Bella had our tickets and we got the VIP escort to the front of the lines. The toboggan ride down the mountain was 100 times better than any Disneyland ride....an absolute blast! After the Great Wall Bella took us to a local Chinese restaurant in the village. The food was delicious! Being Chinese myself, I know good Chinese food and this restaurant served some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. It was fresh, flavors were incredible and the noodles were homemade. We stopped at one of the farmer's fruit stand and bought the biggest and most delicious white peaches and Chinese pears. The peaches were larger than softballs!
Thank you to our tour guide Bella and our driver Wangshen for showing us a perfect day! I highly recommend this experience.
An amazing tour with Cynthia was everything we hoped it would be with the perfect balance of activities and guidance. Started with a prompt 8am pickup from the hotel, and an engaging and history filled 90-minute drive to Mutainyu. The cable car was quite something, but the Great Wall itself truly spectacular. Worth the flight from Shanghai alone! We spent a good few hours on the wall, walking various sections firstly up the steep climb it is a little tough to the right as you walk onto the wall, and then back to the other side with the more stunning visuals. Cynthia was great and gave us plenty of insights and space to explore at our own pace, while stopping to catch breath and also to take some insta-pics.
Following the time on the Wall, we took the toboggan run down the mountain which was good fun. I'd done something like this before, so pushed myself this time to go faster and higher round the bends. Then we drove back towards the Summer Palace. A great history lesson followed about the 'Dragon Lady' and the background to the Palace. Being a bit of a sporting geek, I was keen to stop-off near the Birds Nest stadium, which was duly arranged, before a drop-off back to the hotel at roughly 5pm.
All in all an exceptional tour. Thank you Cynthia. The Great Wall is a must do if you have some time in China to get around.
Our guide Roy was awesome. This was a great trip for all ages (we had ages 1 to 67) and it was so nice to be on a private tour. One thing to mention is that those over 60 cannot do the tobaggan, which was disappointing, but the guide was super lovely and kind and we really appreciated his knowledge.
Had a great guide with enough knowledge to talk all day. He did however know when enough was said and be quiet. The meal in the local restaurant was exceptional and vehicle was clean, roomy and quiet.
The wall was amazing and the tobogganing down form the mountain was fun.
Leave as early as as you can to avoid crowds and queues.
Highly recommend this tour to anybody visiting Beijing. Roy our tour guide was great very informative and made the tour more fun and educational as well. diffidently will book more tours with Roy as guide
We had an awesome time touring the Great Wall and Summer Palace. Our tour guide, Jimmy, was so knowledgeable and spoke excellent English and shared much more than just knowledge of sights, the Chinese culture too! Our tour included lunch too and that was one of the highlights of our day too. I would highly recommend booking a tour, picked us up right at the hotel on time and spent a great day with a kind and knowledgeable guide and safe driver. A for this company. We actually booked another tour to see the Forbidden City and Tienamen Square tomorrow because of the experience.
This tour was great!! The wall is an amazing sight and the guide lets you explore at your leisure. Riding down the wall is a must! The lunch was delicious and Summer Palace fascinating. Highly recommend.
I was picked up at my hotel by Albert and Mr. Xu right on time. Albert spoke English very well. He gave me a lot of history about The Great Wall and Summer Palace and answered my many questions. I never felt rushed and had plenty of time at each sight. We had a fabulous lunch at a local restaurant near the wall. I am a vegetarian and Albert kindly called ahead. Every dish was vegetarian and delicious! On your way back to Beijing we stopped for a photo opportunity at the Bird's Nest. It was a great day! I highly recommend this tour!
We had a wonderful time. Our guide, Roy, is perfectly fluent in English, and adjusted his pace to our preferences (family of four with two older teens). He is a wealth of information from China and #39;s history to day to day life in present times. We really enjoyed his company; would recommend him to all.
Claire was great and we managed to squeeze in the Great Wall, summer palace, and temple of heaven in one day.
The ski lift up and toboggan sled down the mountain were good fun!
The lake was scenic at the summer palace. I have to say though, for beauty of architecture don't miss the temple.
I do hope Claire sends the photos she took for me soon, family and friends are dying to see them back home:
This tour - a full day - was our absolutely favorite day in China. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, and made the day fun! She explained a lot of the Chinese history and culture as we toured the Summer Palace and Great Wall. The pace was comfortable for us - as she guided us to the easier of two ways to climb the Wall. Lunch was included at a great little Chinese restaurant - delicious! I highly recommend this tour.
Had a fantastic day with Albert our tour guide and Mr Xu our driver. Picked up from our hotel exactly on time and had a pleasant journey to the Great Wall with Albert providing us with some of the history of the Wall. Fortunately the weather was brilliant and on arrival we took the chairlift up to the Wall and then spent one and a half hours walking with Albert answering our questions. We then took the toboggan ride down - great fun. It was then off to lunch at a local restaurant and with Albert's help managed to order a very good meal. It was the off to the Summer Palace which was beautiful and again Albert explained all the history. Finally we made an unscheduled stop at the Birds Nest stadium. Then we were safely delivered back to our hotel after a full and most enjoyable day. Brilliant!
As many have said, this is an excellent full day tour. Our tour guide, Albert, was excellent. He provided us with fascinating history of the Great Wall and the Summer Palace in very good English. Very courteous and attentive to our needs family of four with kids ages 10 and 8. He had the kids fascinated with the history of both places. Amazing how much of the stories, they were able to remember. Much of that is due to Albert. Also very nice to have him handle ticket purchase included in tour price and conversing with attendants wherever we went. Lunch at local restaurant included was delicious. Way more food than we could eat. Easy to order with all of the pictures and English names. The private tour experience was definitely worth the extra money. Highly recommend especially with Albert as a guide.
Our tour with Roy was very enjoyable. Roy was on time for pick up, courteous, informative, open to changing the itinerary and provided us with answers to questions for the 90 minute drive to Mutianyu. Very knowledgeable. Great English. Chose a great local Chinese restaurant in a village for lunch. We pointed at the menu pictures to order. Delicious. The Summer Palace and the 2008 Olympic site were interesting. We ended the tour with a ban! I asked to be taken to the 'snack market', the Wangfujing Night Market, with lines of 50 stalls selling unbelievable food items. I ate a roasted sparrow head and all and 3 deep fried scorpions, live ones on skewers waiting their turn near by! We couldn't have had a better day nor found all these places on our own. well spent.
