This tour company is top notch. I would definitely recommend this tour and our guide Sue was excellent.
This was such a fun tour!! Our tour guide Jerry was super friendly and helpful, plus he answered all of our questions with ease. The tour began with a guided tour through the square and forbidden city which is huge, where Jerry provided lots of insight into the history of the forbidden city. Jerry communicated with us through a wireless headset however the audio was definitely not stable and we had to reconnect a few times. This didn't detract away from the tour however its worth mentioning for future tours for this company. Then we proceeded to the Great Wall of China at Mutianyu, where we walked along the wall cardio workout, took a bunch of photos and then took a fun toboggan slide down. It was interesting to hear how the wall was built by using blasting rocks from surrounding mountains and about the wall's purpose. This tour is expensive but it is worth its price tag since you get to see two major attractions in one day.
Excellent experience! I was able to see the main points of interest in Beijing and surroundings going with this tour.
The tour guide was very efficient, well prepared to answer questions, good interaction with the traveler.
Food was great and the car was comfortable. Overall it was a memorable tour and very good experience!
Excellent full day tour. Be prepared for a long day and quite a lot of walking but it is worth it. Ivy was a wonderful, energetic and informative guide. Highly recommended.
Sunny communicated all information about pick up and time to be ready. She was a great tour guide. Answered EVERY questions anyone had and provided lots of interesting stories. This trip visited Tiananmen Square and spent several hours touring the Forbidden City. Everyone had bluetooth headphones so you could hear Sunny as there were a lot of people and groups touring the Forbidden City. Great history lesson with lots of little side stories. Then off to the Great Wall. About a 90 minute ride. As a single American traveling, it was nice to speak to other people on this trip as I hadn't had much communication with anyone since arriving in China on a business trip and this was my one day of not working. There were 3 Americans who were part of an international study group and 2 ladies from Australia. A wonderful time was had by all. Got to the Great Wall after stopping nearby for a delicious lunch. Sunny helped us order and there was SO MUCH FOOD! We had a beautiful day at the Wall. Took the chair lift up and walked the wall for about 90 minutes. Amazing views. At this point, Sunny left us to our wanderings but we had gotten plenty of historical information on the bus ride. It was a wonderful experience, and there was no shopping or stopping at tourist traps, although if you want souvenirs, there were little shops all along Even a Burger King! on the walk to the chair lift. The Alpine slide ride down the mountain at the end of the day topped it off. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone with a day to spend in see some amazing historical sites in China.
Great experience and excellent guide named Rico. The trip was seamless, all we had to do was follow Rico and listen to his narrative about each area. He also answered all questions which was a great personal touch. Lunch was awesome and everyone enjoyed it! Be prepared for the hike on the wall to include many steps and the toboggan ride down was loads of fun as well. I couldn't have expected more for the cost of the tour, money well spent!
You will not be disappointed with this tour. On-time pick-up from hotel in a comfortable van. Our tour guide, Dream, did a great job educating the small group 6 people on Tienanmen Square, the Forbidden City, and, of course, the Great Wall. We did not feel rushed at any one location, having ample opportunity to take photos and take in the sites. There had been a light rain the day we took this tour but Dream was equipped with an additional umbrella for those who need one. Tip: Make sure to wear appropriate shoes. If raining, there is standing water at Tienanmen Square and you will get your feet thoroughly wet. If cold, as it was that day for us, it is even more uncomfortable with wet shoes. There were a couple of men selling plastic booties to slide over your shoes so you may want to invest in a pair. Others wrapped plastic shopping bags around their feet.
The Forbidden City is vast so there is a lot of walking. Though crowded, it wasn't a crushing crowd. We visited the concubines' area of the City and could see into part of the living quarters. There was a small gift shop where you can purchase water and souvenirs.
From the Forbidden City, we drove to the Great Wall, stopping for lunch en route. Here we saw more Westerners than we had our entire time in China. This meant the food, though Chinese, was Westernized for the tourists.
At the Great Wall, we walked up a steep incline to get to the cable cars that would take us to the Great Wall. It was a tremendous scene from the cable car. It was surreal actually being on the Great Wall. We had an agreed-upon 1 1/2 hour to explore on our own, walking up and down the winding wall. Where you embark/disembark on the cable cars are restrooms, some Western, and a little cafe selling coffee, drinks, snacks, and souvenirs.
The small group tour makes for a more intimate discovery of these amazing and historical sites. This tour is a must-do!
This day was amazing. Not only because of the beautiful sites we visited but also because of Marjorie, who informed our small group very recommendable in stead of a larger group about everything in perfect English. Everything was well organized, the luch was more than good and I loved being on the Great Wall. Also the driver was like 'non-Chinese': safe and excellent driving. This tour I highly recommend when you are limited in time max. a day and want to see great highlights of Beijing! It is worth the money!
Me and my wife spent this wonderful day with another three fellows. Our guide met us in hotel lobby at 7:30 and took us to minivan stayed nearby. He offered to swap Great Wall and Forbidden City parts which was a great plus because we've managed to avoid traffic and were almost first on the Great Wall. Right after us several big busses with tourists arrived and when we returned back after almost two hours on Great Wall, number of tourists was already significant. Car was comfortable, our guide spoke English pretty well and told us several interesting stories from Great Wall history. When we arrived he offered us two options - Cable Car and Ski Lift up Tobogan down all was included.
Two hints here. 1 Ski Lift to Great Wall is amazing experience. 2 Tobogan is absolutely safe and keeping in mind number of ppl using it - you will unlikely be able to get full speed. At any moment you'll find somebody in front of you who will be too scared to pull accelerator and slide on the very low speed.
Then we've got very good traditional cuisine lunch and went back to city.
On Forbidden City tour we were surprised with several facts:
1 We've been given hands-free walkie-talkie, so we were able to hear our guide even if it was pretty noisy around
2 We've passed to Tiananmen Square without waiting in long queue
3 Tickets to Forbidden city he took without waiting.
So basically we've spent no extra time on waiting nevertheless it was Saturday and it was pretty crowded.
At the end of the day we've got one small, but valuable surprise. I won't spoil here - just get this tour and you will see
Conclusion: tour organization is amazing - highly recommend, guide speaking English pretty well, good lunch, GW cabin car / ski lift-tobogan, and Forbidden City are included, so you can just relax and enjoy.
The only questionable point could be amount of historical information guide has provided - it was somewhat brief, but we have nothing to compare with and, I believe, you can get it easily from internet, so I don't think it is minus.
Angela was awesome!! Due to the traffic from China's National Day she switched our itinerary around and we went to the wall first thing in the morning which was perfect. We were able to beat the crowds before it got too busy. Highly recommended!
Excellent tour for reaching over two main attractions in one day. You get a thoroughly visit to the impressive Forbidden city and a walk on a good preserved part of the Great Wall. The cable ride up and down from the wall was exciting and our guide Marjorie was very competent and nice. She provided extraordinary service together with her driver. They also helped us getting tickets and transportation for an arrangement in the evening.o
This tour was beyond my expectations. Had one day in Beijing and wanted to get the most out of it. Vicky our tour guide was excellent and constantly bought life to the stories of these major points in Beijing. An awesome experience.
What a wonderful and informative day!
I was delighted with this day trip. There was a great deal to see and our guide, Suzy, was excellent and very friendly despite me misunderstanding where to meet at one of the sites, we eventually found each other- sorry about that Suzy!
I would most definitely recommend this tour. The sheer size of the Forbidden City was astounding- Suzy was a mine of historical information- very instructive. For me the highlight was the Great Wall at Mutianyu. The sheer scale of it was astounding. I went up by cable car and descended the same way- there was a choice eg tobogganing down. It was, as Suzy said, a great vantage point from the Wall, and without hordes of other tourists which was a huge bonus! Xiexie Suzy- and also our driver !
The trip was a great experience. Our tour guide, Sylvia, was very knowledgeable and personable. There were only six people in our group which left it intimate and provided plenty of room for questions. The tour lasted all day and was well worth the money, especially with the provided transportation and having the tickets taken care of for the whole trip.
We had a fantastic day with Cactus and our small group. We were so lucky to have had a perfect day weather wise which made the day all that much better. The tour of the Forbidden City was fascinating, we learned so much more about it from Cactus. Before going to teh wall, we had a fantastic lunch! Everything was delicious! We wouldn't have tried 1/2 of the dishes as we didn't know what they were. Cactus did a great job of selecting the meal. The trip to the Great Wall was equally as wonderful. We had the wall practically to ourselves and we discovered that there is so much we don't know about China and we are anxious to learn more. It was great fun to take the sled down from the wall! Great way to end the day. If we are in Beijing in the future, we will definitely book a tour with Cactus!
This was both an informative and enjoyable tour. Our driver was on time and one felt very safe with his manner of driving. Our guide Vivian was very pleasant and knowledgeable while ensuring that we were well-taken care of.
I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Beijing.
Really recommend Great Wall at Mutianyu with few people, time for walking and climbing some of the steep parts of the wall. Annie a very nice and clever guide! Good full day program, interesting information and only five in our group.
Our guide Peter was the best. This was my 65th Birthday Adventure and he made it memorable. He was extremely knowledgeable about the country and especially about the areas of our visit. He was very patient and helpful.
Great tour if you have only 1 day in Beijing. Fantastic sites to see. Our guide Helen Jiao was awesome. Spoke excellent English and was extremely knowledgeable about the history. She was able to connect with our group and explain in a fun way! She was very caring ensuring we were well looked after.
Small manageable group, highly recommended, very young guide Jerry but he did an excellent job, fabulous looking big en route to the wall, well timed, well catered, great day!!!
Had a great time during this tour - thanks to our excellent tour guide, Susie! On the whole it was well planned and delivered as promised. Susie was very friendly and approachable and was always happy to answer our endless questions!
The tour began with a walk through Tiananmen Square, followed by an hour-plus visit to the Forbidden City. Having seen movies about this place, it was totally something else to be standing in the vast grandeur of the palace grounds itself! Susie took much trouble to explain as much of the details for the key highlights as possible during the time we had there she did say that if we wanted to see everything there it would take at least 8 hours to do so!!.
After the Forbidden City, we were brought to a quaint Chinese restaurant for lunch. It turned out to be a rather sumptuous lunch with a wide variety of delicious dishes! As there was a group member in the tour which did not eat pork, she specially ordered some dishes to suit his requirements. I know of some similar tour packages that included only a quick fast-food lunch to maximise the time, but we appreciated the longer stopover for lunch to rest our legs after walking through the Forbidden City and to prepare for the Great Wall! It was also a great time for bonding among the tour members as there were only 6 of us 1 American, 3 Indonesian, and my wife and me from Singapore - it was conversations we had were really enjoyable!
The final stop was the Great Wall. As China Highlights had some special arrangements, we were able to drive our minivan all the way to almost the foot of the Wall - saved a lot of time and walking! We went up the Wall to tower 6 at the Mutianyu section via chair lift not cable car - this was quite thrilling by itself! After Susie briefed us about the history and construction of the Wall, we were given time to wander by ourselves. Again it is one thing to read about the Great Wall, and watch movies about it, but it's a another to be walking on it for yourself!
Along the way, Susie also recommended a great restaurant called Si Ji Min Fu to try some famous Peking Duck you can't visit Peking Beijing without eating Peking Duck, right? so the driver kindly dropped us off there instead of our hotels and we had a great time continuing our conversations over dinner!
All in all it was a great tour and I would recommend it to any one who had just one day available in Beijing. Of course if you had more days, there are much much more things to see and do in this giant city - but if you have no time then this must be it!
This tour was amazing...!! We had such a. Great time with Barry our guide and he really gave us a informed trip. I hugely recommend spending the extra and going on this tour as I had no regrets in the end. takong the toboggan down from the top of the Great Wall is a must. Big thank you to Barry.
This tour was so fun! The forbidden city was amazing, be prepared to walk! The food at lunch was yummy! And afternoon on the Great Wall was perfect! It rained in the morning, but dried up by the time we got there, there were barely any other people there so our pictures were crowd free!
Nancy was great. We had some travel delays getting to Beijing and Viator was very accommodating to ensure we got to still enjoy the tour. Thank you!
