What You Can Expect

Big Island Adventure Combo: Helicopter, Zipline and Lava Tour

Fly over Volcano National Park

Immerse yourself in Hawaii’s natural attractions on this full-day, action-packed adventure. The day begins with pickup from your Waikoloa or Kona hotel and an approximately 1.5-hour drive around the island toward Hilo. Stop briefly at KapohoKine Adventures store to pick up any gear, provisions or souvenirs you may want. (Snacks and beverages will also be provided throughout the day.)

At the zipline base camp near Hilo, prepare for the action with a safety briefing and slip on a provided hard hat, harness and gloves. When you’re ready, fly across an 8-line course that spans a series of tropical river gorges and waterfalls from a height of 160 feet (49 meters). Experience the rush of one of Hawaii’s longest ziplines — a monster cable that stretches a heart-pounding 2,400 feet (700 meters) long.

Recharge with a picnic lunch before heading toward the Hilo heliport, where you’ll climb aboard a comfortable helicopter and slip on a two-way headset to hear your pilot’s narration throughout the flight. Soar over Hawaii’s pristine rain forest dotted with shimmering cascades, including Rainbow Falls, and get a breathtaking perspective on the craters of Mauna Kea and Kilauea. If you’re lucky, you may see puffs of smoke and oozing lava as you fly over Kilauea — one of the world’s most active volcanoes.

Back on solid ground, travel to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park for a tour of lava fields, steam vents and ancient calderas led by a ranger-trained guide. Get a ground-level perspective on Kilauea and Mauna Loa (the largest volcano on Earth) and learn about the Big Island’s volcanic history at the Jaggar Museum.

Finish your action-packed day with dinner at the historic Volcano Winery. Enjoy gourmet regional cuisine right inside the park with a view that overlooks the sputtering Halemaumau crater.  You may be treated to a fiery lava show as the sun sets on another day in Hawaiian paradise. After your meal, relax on the return drive to your hotel.

Great day out, we were lucky enough to be on a quiet day, so we basically had a private tour for the price of a group tour. The guide was full of facts and took us to a few extra locations as we had so much time. Even the scheduled activities were worth it. The Zip lines were fun, though the scenery not as I imagined it. It's around the edge of the rainforest it feels. But the sights were fantastic anyway. The food at the winery was AMAZING. Seeing the volcanoes in daytime was amazing but at night it is something else entirely! You're probably only in Hawaii once, so we didn't hold back.

Was definitely worth the experience! 3 BIG TO DO Items done in 1 day - helicopter flight of an active volcano, zip lining, and checking out Kilauea at night! The added bonus, was being able to see the Milky Way at 4000 feet on our return trip from Hilo to Kona! Wow!!!!

You can do all three excursions separately at a cost savings of about 200/pp, but if you're pressed for time, this is the way to go!

Unbelievable tour- so worth the money. Kent, our driver knew everything and anything you wanted to know. The zip line crew were so friendly and reassuring. The helicopter was amazing. Next was a tour of a lava tube, followed by dinner at a winery and finally a night visit to the volcano! Amazing!

This is not only a great way to have fun and adventure but also to get to know the island. Sure you could book each of the activities yourself. The cost is the same. But you would miss out on the Marcus factor. You can't beat having your own tour guide for the day. Hats off to Marcus.

What a great way to get an overview of Hilo, see a variety of sceneries, and do tons of fun adventures all in 1 day. Plus, I lucked out having PJ as our tour guide! He was super knowledgeable, passionate about what he does, and just so much fun. Get ready for tons of laughs, woohoo and #39;s, and yums!

Our driver Lawrence picked us up right at our hotel. And we had a great ride to the other side of the Island where our zipline adventure began. The helpers at the zip-line were awesome and I like that your hands were free to take video and pictures as you go. We had a wonderful little lunch provided and zipped over a really cool waterfall. Which when at our lunch stop you could view. Then our driver took us to our helicopter ride over the volcano, you could see the lava flowing into the ocean, that was so cool. Then Lawrence took us to a wine tasting and a guided tour of the winery plus another meal which was excellent. The last stop was at the Volcano State Park and our driver took the extra step and took us to view the lava tubes before dark, which was so cool to walk through. He was very informative on the park area. Viewing the volcano eruptions at dark was an amazing site that we will never forget. On the way back to our hotel, our driver stopped on the side of the road and showed us a spectacular view of the stars we have never seen so many stars in the sky, it was from horizon to horizon--so incredible. This was an amazing trip that we will never forget. Although it was a long day, I would do it again in a heartbeat!!
