Seeing the rays was one of the highlights of being on the Big Island. The crew did a great job . We also got to see a whale an added plus. Thanks

Our tour was absolutely perfect! Highly recommend for any age and swimming ability or lack thereof like myself. Simon and Jacob were lovely and was more than willing to help you to the boards. We saw plenty of Manta’s and also a 12 inch tiger shark ;P which was incredible none the less. CHEEHAWWWW!

The crew was amazing. They made you feel more than welcome. On our way to our manta snorkeling location, we stumbled across spinner dolphins and a humpback whale! It was amazing!! It took a little while to find a manta, but our crew’s persistence paid off. This is a must if you’re on the Big Island

Wow. Once in a lifetime experience. I had my 9 year old son and my 68 year old mother along and everyone was made comfortable to have the best experience possible. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful and the mantas were majestic. The boat ride to the snorkel site was even fantastic. Right before we got in the water the sun was setting over the ocean, just beautiful. I would recommend to anyone and would go again myself any time

This tour was so much fun and definitely a must do on Big Island. The tour guides were knowledgeable! It is a small boat so hang out at the back of the boat if youre prone to motion sickness. The tours essentially float boards with lights connected to the bottom off these boards. There are handles to the side of the board which help you hold on to the boards and float with your head below the water. They will give you rubber noodles to stay afloat and you have to stay really still to attract plankton. Once the plankton accumulates, the grand manta rays will arrive and you will not be disappointed. It was a fantastic experience watching these gentle giants up close! Do not forget to carry your water cameras and go pros with you.

Simon and Jacob took our group out last week. They provided safety info, wetsuit tops, snorkel gear, snacks, drinks, and music during the 20 minute boat ride to the site. Jacob was terrific and very helpful with everything, from distributing drinks to tying up the boat to corralling everyone in the water to keep us from kicking the rays. They put a board with LED lights in the water and for about 30 minutes, you hang onto the board while the light attracts the manta rays. They were magnificent, six or seven at one time swooping up below and around us to eat the plankton. Very cool. If you tend to get seasick, you may want to opt for a larger boat that rocks less, because you do spend about 30 minutes on the boat waiting to get in the water and getting everyone back on afterwards.

We booked this trip well in advance for a large group 5 adults, 2 children and 1 infant. We were told to meet at a shelter in the harbor next to restrooms which works out well with children. Captain Tim Bates met us at the shelter and right of the bat put us at ease. He has a great personality and an incredible sense of humor. We were fitted for our snorkel, jackets and flippers prior to boarding. The boat ride to the site was awesome with great music. We did have snacks water, juice, chips etc. The procedure to get in the water was well executed. Then came the mantas and there were a lot of them. What a sight!!! I think I will remember this even if I have dementia at a later age. Even my youngest 4 yrs got in and watched. A couple of my kids left a few minutes early as the water go too cold for them. The boat ride back was amazing as well. Jacob was the assistant to the Captain and was great with the kids getting them on and off the boat especially during the dive. I would do this again in a heartbeat and hope to do it again during our next visit.

Truly amazing. There were lots of Manta rays the night we went. I thought we would miss out but the crew assured us they would come and they did. Lots of snacks and drinks. We were well looked after and great gear. Suggestions - although it is only a short boat trip some people did get sick so if you are prone to this may be take something before going it did get cold in the water so listen to there advice and only get in when they suggest so you can stay in with the manta rays as long as possible you are suppose to cross your legs while floating and I found this made me a lot warmer and by the end I didn't feel cold at all.

This was a class-act outfit! Crew was friendly and helpful. We saw 16 manta rays. I was overwhelmed by the experience - better than I thought. I had a 4 year old and 10 year old that chickened out because of how close the manta rays were, but the crew kept an eye on them on the boat for me while I still got to enjoy the show. The kids were able to see the manta rays from the ship. Of all the tours we did, this is the one I would recommend - you don't want to miss it!

A very unique experience. Very much a raw nature scene managed very well by this outfit. I can tell you that this boat was one of the top two of more than a dozen that night who were the best at providing a safe, accessible, fun, entertaining, and productive adventure in which we did see giant manta rays inches from our face. I was a bit jaded having done a lot of open water diving but my wife really really enjoyed it and it was one of her favorite things in Hawaii so I have to admit that it was not disappointing. The crew was very nice and very entertaining in a way that fit perfectly with a wide variety of tourists on vacation in Hawaii. They provided fun, humor, and plenty of science during the trip which fit all levels. Instructions on how to behave in the water to best view the manta rays proved invaluable when the time came. I would do it again and would certainly recommend Hang Loose Tours, the outfit we got. They are very good.

Magical, unbelievable experience! I can't recommend this highly enough. From Start to finish, the crew were attentive and positive. The registration process was easy and pleasant, and the gear was well-kept and clean. After a 20 minute boat ride which was an adventure in itself, we arrived at the dive spot. There was a gorgeous sunset, accompanied by explanations of the procedures and information about the manta rays. As soon as it was dark, we were in! The crew, Simon and Jacob, showed incredible patience while getting us all set, including my 5 year old, nervous son. After about 5 minutes, the rays showed up. Phenomenal! The crew took my son back on board and gave him more snacks and a towel so I could stay out. We got a spectacular show with 12 manta rays doing flips and turns. The boat ride back was chilly, so a warm jacket and dry towel are important. We left with a sense of awe and satisfaction of money well spent. I'd do it again tomorrow if I could!

This was a fantastic experience. When I was planning my trip I was looking at all of the scuba tours available but unless your an avid diver then all of the preparation and training would take up to 3 days to get certified. We had way too much on our itinerary to dedicate 3 days to scuba. Then a friend showed me a video of the manta rays and I was hooked on the idea. We set out on the Hang Loose tour. These guys were professional. Just their body language and obvious command of the tour made for a very secure and safe trip. They warned us that not everyone gets to see manta rays but I guess they have to say that just in case. We had 6 that visited our light board. They provided wet suit jackets, towels, snorkel gear, and snacks. Not to mention they provided a very detailed info session on the manta and the start of the whole enterprise.

Absolutely phenomenal experience! Simon and Leon knew just where to go and what to do to attract the manta rays when other boat tours were struggling. We were able to see three very large mantas so close that you could sometimes feel them brush up against you. Leon is extremely knowledgeable and Simon aka Matthew McConaughey LOL takes great care of his guests. This tour is a must for anyone wishing for this unique experience. Al-right, al-right, al-right! :

Absolutely fantastic Manta Ray Snorkling trip with Hang Loose
Simon and Leon were amazing and the information Leon gave us was so informative. He obviously really loves the creatures and has a great understanding of them.
Once again, could not fault our adventure.
