It was amazing! Such a beautiful tour! Money well spent! Hopefully we can come back next year and do it again! It was so much fun! It definitely was a ride too! ATV riding to the max! Haha it was rad!! The tour guides are so nice too! Great views!
    Response from Host, Jul 2022
Mahalo, it was a pleasure to ride with you!
Amazing views on a beautiful day!
    Jennifer_C, Jun 2022
The goal is the green sand beach, and it’s amazingly beautiful! We were able to stop a few times on the way to grab snacks and get pictures. The ride along the coast is gorgeous! Views you won’t see anywhere else! A few things to note: 1. You travel a VERY bumpy road on the way (and back) to the coast. If you have any back issues—beware. 2. You get very dusty! Plan on a change of clothes or wear something on top of your clothes if you care about that. 3. You have a steep climb down to the green sand beach. It’s gorgeous, and worth it, but quite a hike! Having said that, our 55 year-old bodies made it, and loved it. 4. No bathrooms before during or after, but you can pee in the woods during stops :) We had a great time!!
    Response from Host, Jun 2022
It is better advised that folks use the county park restroom in Waiohinu, which is 1000ft before you turn onto the road that leads to us. We have it posted multiple times and in various places that we do not have a restroom before, during or after the tour.
    Friendly guides took us...
    Elizabeth_D, Jun 2022
Friendly guides took us on a small group adventure through the Hawaiian backcountry to see a couple of beach spots, a turtle cove and lots of beautiful hawaiian scenery. We definitely got very dusty and would recommend bringing reusable water bottles (which the tour guides will refill for you) and sunscreen. This was a lot of fun!
    Response from Host, Jun 2022
We're grateful that your group had a great time! We're constantly working on dust control and trail improvements, which as you could imagine is very challenging!
    Awesome Experience!!
    Michael_K, Jun 2022
Jerry was a great guide! Our family of 4 thoroughly enjoyed seeing the most wonderful parts of the Big Island that we would not have seen otherwise. The views were amazing and to see the green sand beach was unbelievably breathtaking. We would highly recommend this ATV tour if you’re ever on the Big Island!
    Response from Host, Jun 2022
Mahalo for the kind words and safe travels!
    Unforgettable experience
    Fabry_T, Jun 2022
Jerry was great! The trip last almost 4 hours. You reach terrific beaches and cliffs, blue water and green sands. Amazing and unforgettable. You enjoy also a great off road experience! This is a very special experience! 5 ⭐️ +

Thank you for the kind words! The length of the trip varies depending on the guests, weather and other outdoor factors such as time of year.
So much fun with great sights
    Preston_G, May 2022
Tour was fantastic! So much fun, very exciting, and perfect pace. Saw beautiful places that isn’t accessible to the average traveler on a trail. Gorgeous views throughout.
    Response from Host, May 2022
    Mahalo & safe travels!
    A dirty, fun trip!
    Thomas_L, May 2022
Trail was challenging and fun! Two-person 4-wheelers more than adequate for the ride! Views of coastline including green beach; unfortunately it was not an option to climb down to it for a pair of 60 yr olds! Guide very personable & showed many interesting things along the way. WE GOT DIRTY!
    Response from Host, May 2022
We're glad you had a good time! Yes, indeed the excursion is somewhat physically demanding and not for everyone as there are some locations that need to be accessed by foot.
    Fantastic experience
    Shelene_D, May 2022
This was one of our favorite things that we experienced on the Big Island. This tour was perfect with the ATV rides as well as being able to visit the Green Sands Beach. Highly recommend
    Response from Host, May 2022
Thanks for riding with us! For future guests' reference, swimming on this side of the island is extremely risky along this coastline.
    10/10 Highly Recommend

Okay, let me say this, you will get absolutely filthy on this tour. Don't wear white! Don't wear a cute sundress over your bathing suit unless you want that sundress to get stained forever. Don't wear shorts and a tank top if you don't want your arms and legs and chest to get covered in dust and sand! Bring water shoes for rocky beaches. Bring lots of hydration and wear a ton of sunscreen and bring more to reapply because you will be in the sun 99% of the time. Bring a snack because you will be hiking a bit and the hill to the rim and back up from the beach is steep, and you will need to replenish your energy. We were advised that it's a 25 minute helicopter ride to the hospital, so bring epi pens, meds, etc. Also, know your limitations. There is a good bit of physical activity involved to get up and down and back from the green sand beach, plus you get jostled a lot on the trail, so keep that in mind. With all that being said, this IS WELL WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY! The address seems kinda sketch but just follow the road name given and past the white sign with the black arrow pointing up and take a left about 500 feet. There may be another sign that points to the left but it was flipped over and not visible when we went, so we had to call to verify where we were supposed to go. Our guide Sara(h?) was amazing! She patiently took her time explaining how to operate the ATVs. Gave us waivers to sign and gave us dust masks, helmets, goggles and gloves to wear. If you are driving the ATV, be prepared to have a painful throttle hand after a while. You may want to bring your own gloves so you aren't as affected by the vibration. The tour lasted just short of 4 hours. It takes about 10 minutes to drive down far enough to start seeing the coast line. You'll take a short water break at that time and can take pictures then you're off to the next spot which is a beautiful little green sand beach with a couple of swings and a little shore about 20 minutes from the first stop. This is where water shoes come in handy. There is green sand on the beach but it's rocky at the shoreline. If you want to take a dip, you've got about 15 minutes here to get wet, get some pictures on the swing, rehydrate and suit up before it's time to go to the next spot. You'll continue following the trail which is littered with miscellaneous car parts and old junkers which I found quite interesting. Then you'll see the coast again and ride along it for another 20 minutes or so. The ride along the coast was absolutely stunning. Third stop is an area where there is amazing ocean spray along the lava rocks and sometimes the waves would roll over the rocks and push water to where we were standing. You can see pockets in the lava where the sea water dries up and forms sea salt. You'll spend 15-20 minutes here before heading to the base of the hill that leads to the green sand beach. We head over to the base which is a couple minute drive that leads up to the rim of the green sand beach, Papakōlea. The walk up is steep but relatively short. The view about the beach is gorgeous, pictures do not do it justice. You can go down until the beach, Sarah said 30 minutes but I didn't time it, I think she gave us more time to hang than that. I chose not to go down to the beach because I know my physical limitations and the walk up was enough for me. Other members went down and swam and you could see some honu shadows from the top. It was truly beautiful. The beach itself didn't look too crowded. There are no lifeguards, so swim at your own risk. After we departed the green sand beach, it's all backtracking up the trail with a few short water breaks to get back. Sarah turned a hose on for us to rinse off but the dust just seems to continue to crawl out of your pores until you take a shower. In conclusion, this tour far exceeded my expectations. It was absolutely beautiful, and you really got to explore Hawaii off the beaten trail. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to explore Hawaii, and its coastal beauty!
    Response from Host, May 2022
Thank you for sharing details with other guests. The locations and stops will vary. Sometimes others occupy some of the scenic spots, when that happens we try to avoid bothering them, thus not every stop mentioned above is 100% of the time, but do try to fill the tour with other paths or stops. :-) We provide riding gloves in many sizes. Not sure why it was a recommendation to bring your own. We ask that guests do not bring your own required safety equipment, including helmets, your own dust masks/neck gaiters are OK. Sadly, many folks seems to feel it is OK to dump trash and other debris instead of using the free county dump nearby, we're always working to clean up the trail, but its an ongoing and uphill struggle. It used to be alot worse about 3 years ago. :-(

It was a fun ride for...
    Ramil_E, May 2022
It was a fun ride for both my daughter and myself. Great ATV and tour guide. It is not one of those commercial and rush tours, family operated and they do not rush you. A little dusty but worth it. Highly recommend it for anyone and especially for families.
    Response from Host, May 2022
We're glad you had a great time with us! Thankfully there is a hose for washing off at the end ;-)
    Awesome adventure
    kswinkeymirowski, Apr 2022
We had a great time. Drove through all types of terrain, grassland, along rocky cliffs, beach, coastal forrest. Guide was great, stopping often for gorgeous vistas. We seen many turtles. Guide was friendly and knowledgeable of local history. ATV suspension was great on my 60 year old body.
    Response from Host, May 2022
Surprised the dusty portions of the trail didn't make your terrain list! ;-) Thanks for riding with us!
    Beautiful views!
    Allison_E, Apr 2022

Mahalo, we wish you safe travels!
    Not terrible. Great views!
    Megan_R, Apr 2022
The first half of the tour was amazing! The guide was informative and helpful, in the beginning. The ATV’s were easy to use (even for beginners!) and the trails were easy to navigate. Half way into our trip back, the guide left us and we didn’t see him for at least the last 30-40 min. Luckily, there was only one path so we couldn’t get lost in the brush, but if one of the 3 of our ATV’s had a problem, we had an accident, or someone in our party needed aid, he would not have known. At one point, my husband had us pull over and we called our guide to make sure we were on the right path. He seemed perturbed by this. Never once did he circle back to make sure we were ok. When we made it back, he looked extremely annoyed and didn’t make any conversation with us - didn’t ask how we liked it, didn’t ask if we were ok, etc. Even the other couple on the tour with us told me that she thought it was “extremely unprofessional and irresponsible” for him to leave 5 people behind like that. I would still recommend this tour because of the views and the experience in general, but we would not choose this company again when we return to Hawaii.
    Response from Host, Apr 2022
We're sorry you felt that way and had that impression, but this is not the full truth or facts. We will take this feedback to heart, so thank you for leaving it. ==1==. There was three times the guide stopped on the return trip to ensure the entire tour was OK. There are specific points on the return trip we have to stop at to make sure guests don't get lost and we made visual contact with everyone. At most, it was 10 minutes between the three stops. Claiming it was over 30minutes is false. The guide and two other guests even had to stop for 5~8 minutes while a pickup truck moved off the roadway... so there was actually a 4th stop. ==2==. During these stops, none of the guests requested a rest break, asked for assistance nor required assistance. It seemed to us that after 4 HOURS of off road riding your group was worn out and just wanted to get back, maybe the guide was a little cranky too. Assuredly if there was a problem, you would have been taken care of. ==3==. Your group was instructed to maintain visual distance to the ATV in front of you, but 3 of you chose to fall behind. The guide was only going 15mph on the return trip after the 3rd checkpoint... its fine to drive slowly for safety, but it was your group that lost sight of the guide and ATV behind him. Seems unfair to pin that on him as "leaving you behind". ==4==. Regarding your phone call from the trail, only your husband felt he was lost. The others in your party including yourself stated to the guide you guys were fine and the call was not needed when you did reach the guide a few minutes later. Seems unfair for you to claim this was out of fear of getting lost after the fact. In your review, you stated "Luckily, there was only one path so we couldn’t get lost in the brush..." again, how is this fair to us about the return trip? ==5==. Upon returning to the starting point and after the machines were parked, your group was offered to wash up while we went about our duties to cleanup and service the ATVs. During this time no one from your party interacted with us either, you merely wiped off and jumped into your rental vehicle and left. Didn't even say good bye :-(, but that's fine, we're used to folks not wanting to linger. Seems unfair to rate us on this point.

Safety is always our goal as traveling off-road can be fairly treacherous on unfamiliar terrain and trails. We're thrilled everyone had a grand time on your tour!
Great time on the south end of the Big Island
    Randy_R, Apr 2022
This was our first time on quads and it was a great experience. Our guide was wonderful giving us local information and rest stops when needed. The south end of the island is very beautiful and the shore line with large crashing waves was great to see.
