This was the first thing we did when we arrived in Hawaii last week. Our captain was professional, knowledgeable about the area and he was fun to be with. His assistant was also a blast to be around. Our trip started out quickly with a couple of stops to be among dolphins who were returning from feeding all night. We attempted to find some whales but nature being fickle didn't produce any for us to see. We then proceeded to a very nice quiet area to do some snorkeling. The water was crystal clear and protected from the wind and waves further out.
Riding on the boat is fun especially out in the open ocean. Lots of bumps and bounces. Our captain was nice enough to stop several times to let everyone take a break and to release their death grip on the safety handles. :
Just a word to the wise, if you have back or neck troubles I don't recommend this mostly due to the bumps and how the boat is unforgiving on passing that feeling onto the passengers. I do, however, recommend this to anyone who can get down there and experience this adventure. It was a blast and even though I have already done it once, I will do it again during the next visit.

Was an awesome experience. Do not book through the cruise ship. Book directly through here. Much cheaper.
Staff was great and very interactive. We seen a lot of great sites.
whale of a time
still waiting for suzanne from Seattle to send us picture of whale that came close to boat
Really enjoyed, highly recommend. Captain Collin is the best!
The tour was great Dave knew a ton about the island and got us to a great snorkeling spot!
Our guides, Maria and Liz, were great. So friendly and really knew the water and coast well. The trip is well worth the cost and the time. Snorkling at Captain Cook's was so beautiful. Definitely recommend a lot of sunscreen - a lot and reapplying often. The guides talk about it a lot and my family wishes we applied even more. If we ever come back to the Big Island, we will do this adventure again.
Dre and Liz were awesome guides. We had a fabulous day. We had a group of 9, including kids, and everyone loved it.
The crew is very kind and attentive, and the diving point is beautiful. Dozens of dolphins and some whales were seen from the boat. It was a really gorgeous tour!
A brilliant day on the ocean with Captain Dave! Enjoyed every bump along the way. The snorkelling was excellent, the water incredible and the day perfect.
This was an excellent tour. There were just 12 of us and we gelled really well together. Our tour guides Colin and Jen were very informative and Colin did a terrific job of making the adventure fun for everyone. I highly recommend it whether your young or 60+ you'll have a great time!
Buda is the reason this tour received a 5 star rating. He was extremely helpful in making this a very enjoyable event. This was my second attempt to snorkel; the first one (Atlantic waters) didn't go well. Buda took the time to give me tips and to make sure that I was at ease in the water. Many thanks to him!!!!!
The zodiac trip was wonderful, the snorkeling was breath taking and the crew was great. Highly recommend this trip.
Captain Collin and Caleb were awesome. They told us lots of great facts about the island. They let us snorkel a little longer than normal due to us being the last trip of the day. They showed us lava tubes and lots of fish. We got lucky on our trip going both ways. We got to watch as Spinner Dolphins swam VERY close to our boat and rode our wakes. They followed us for a good mile or so as we got to watch them play and swim. Would Recommend this trip to anyone looking for a great time!
Fantastic trip! Fun zodiac ride, incredible dolphin spectacle, crystal clear water. Overall a great day!

BEST EXCURSION EVER!
Dave and Budha made this exciting excursion safe and enjoyable!
Capt Ken and especially Buddha were fantastic. My three girls ages 14, 12, and 11 loved it.
Really nice tour, we were really lucky and saw a dolphins, whales an a lot of fish.
we love the tour I wish they were doing more snorkel tour on different parts of the island;
was really fun to get up a little faster!
What a great day! Loved the zodiac raft and being so windswept jetting through the ocean to our snorkel location. The history and information was great but the snorkel was second to none. We were lucky seeing dolphins up close the moment we left the harbor then upon arriving at Captain Cook monument were greeted with more dolphins and an array of gorgeous fish along the beautiful reef. Thanks guys
This is for the athletic type of person. Crew bored. Broke loose a bit after we as a group started asking questions and they realized we for the most part had all snorkeled before ....
Fish yellow - blue-black and dolphins
Return ride whales/caves/blow holes/images in lava layers
Capt. Ken and 1st Mate Buddha were fabulous! We have been on other snorkling trips, but nothing compares to the Kealakekua Bay experience. We saw dolphins, goats and seabirds along the way, then TONS of beautiful coral and fish in the bay. It was a nice mix of fun and education by the crew and a fantastic day overall. Beat the Crowd sailing was definitely a plus as the big catamarans left -- along with their crowds. Thanks! See you again soon....
Tour was a fun, informative adventure with plenty of time to snorkel and play with the critters. We saw dolphins, turtles and a score of various fish in a protected, beautiful cove. Captain Jack and Maria were wonderful hosts who spent a great deal of time explaining not only the creatures we saw, but the local history and landmarks as well. It was well worth the $.
The tour guides were amazing, I really felt like I got the best possible experience because of them.
