What You Can Expect

Blue Mountains Small-Group Day Hike

Blue Mountains Hiking Tour, Wentworth Falls

Part of Australia’s Great Dividing Range, the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains form a lush landscape of subtropical rain forest cropped by ancient plateaus. To begin, make your own way to the town of Wentworth Falls, an approximately 1.5-hour drive from Sydney. Here, meet your expert guide and your walking group of no more than 16 people.

Choose from a medium or hard hike to suit your walking experience and fitness level, and set off to explore the awe-inspiring, protected wilderness on foot. Break midday for a gourmet picnic lunch.

Valley of the Waterfalls
On this medium-grade hike, explore a lush, hidden valley dotted with sparkling waterfalls and ancient rocky outcroppings. This hike is suitable for average fitness levels, though there are some moderate inclines and steep steps up and down. Expect to cover 4 to 6 miles (7 to 10 km) over approximately 3.5 hours.

Ruined Castle and Scenic Railway
Challenge yourself with a difficult, 6.5-hour hike that takes you off designated paths to cross rough terrain and scramble over boulders and rock formations. Covering 8 miles (13 km), it’s designed for those with excellent fitness and hiking experience.
Begin with a ride on the world’s steepest passenger railway, which makes a 1,361-foot (415-meter) descent through a cliffside tunnel. Walk across the beautiful Jamison Valley and scale a large rocky outcropping known as the Ruined Castle for memorable views above the forest and bush.
